Transmission performance and Carly for BMW

I'm currently looking at an issue on a friend's F30 (2018) 320d Auto.

This may be entirely coincidental, but after he performed a reset of the transmission to learn his driving behaviour, the car has suffered from a stutter which is quite bad on occasions and more often at low speed.

To me, it almost feels like the stutter you would get if an EGR valve needed a good clean, but bearing in mind this car is only 18 months old I would doubt that anything like this would be an issue.

Has anybody out there ever used this function in Carly and suffered a similar problem. It just sounds like too much of a coincidence to me.

So after performing a reset:
1. With the scan tool, clear any DTCs that may be set.
2. Drive the vehicle until the vehicle temperature is greater than 30˚C (86˚F).
3. After the vehicle has reached normal operating temperature, and with the scan tool, monitor actual gear state. Drive the vehicle normally with the accelerator pedal between 10% and 20% until 7th gear has been achieved, approximately 76 km/h (47 mph). After 7th gear has been achieved, coast down to 30 mph with no application of the brake or accelerator to allow a 6-5 shift. Brake the vehicle to a stop. Repeat this procedure 5 times.

He may also have to reset throttle adaptions:

* Press the start button once to turn on power (Don't start the engine)
* Press the accelerator down to the floor for at least 5 sec.
* Hit start button once to turn off power
* Remove foot from accelerator
* Wait for min. 2 minutes
* Start the engine and drive

Well I finally got round to doing this and, although it made a little difference, my suspicions were correct and it turned out to be a dodgy EGR valve.

Replaced under warranty thankfully and now she's purring along as if nothing ever happened.
