255 rear and 235 front?

So I'm currently running 235/40R19 front and 265/35R19 rear, but I have slight rubbing issues in the back, so I'm thinking either reduce to 265/30R19, or go 255/35R19.

I will loose 11mm of height if I go to 265/30R19, and I also worry it will be too harsh of a ride, so I'm leaning towards doing 255/35R19.

But in the front I have no problems, and not really that keen on reducing the width.

Would it be fine to run 235/40R19 in the front and 255/35R19 rear despite the fact that it will increase the difference in diameter between front and rear somewhat?

I have a RWD (not X-drive).

That should be fine I think. M cars come with 255/35/19 and 275/35/19 stock which is a similar difference to what you would see with this setup. Differences in tire height mostly come into play with xdrive cars.

Hi Hybris,

I want to scale up to the same tire sizes but my car is a 428i Gran Coupe, normally that size should not rub, can you tell whether it is due to wheels?

Hi, 265/35R19 didn't rub until I lowered the car. And yes your wheel offset will affect whether you have rubbing or not. I have 9.5" wide wheels with ET40 in the rear.

For other readers: I did end up doing what I planned here, so I'm now running 235/40R19 front, and 255/35R19 back. This solved my rubbing issue.
