No matter your position or opinion, I still got a chuckle out of this irony...

Yes there was more than a touch of "Dad's Army" about the farce that unfolded last week.

I say if Brexit means a clean break, so-be-it!

Whatever happens and if for a while the country’s situation is grim it cannot be for sure be as bad as conditions were in the ‘70’s when we had the 3 day working week due to Trade Union solidarity striking, bringing industry and the country almost to its knees in every way, including burying the dead.

So with that period of my working life in mind, even though I was in mining engineering, I have no worries for this country of a clean break Brexit.
Our biggest potential worry by far for the U.K. sits on the opposition benches of the House of Commons.

I say bring it on and let us be an independent country as we have been for 1000 years and not let us be just a State in the E.U.

And Rees-Mogg? I rather like him for his speech making eloquence, his iintellegence and his ability to keep calm when being insulated and coming back with crushing answers. Many examples of which can be seen on YouTube.
He needs to be sitting on the Government front benches.
Fuck me, Rees Mogg would be just as bad as the loony left. I despair for the future of this country when complete and utter cunts like him get respect from, well, the likes of you at least.

His views are just what we need in the world, more religious fundamentalism. A devout catholic who wants to ban abortion, even for women who have been raped. And ban gay marriage. In fact ban being gay altogether.

The fact that you respect him for his crushing responses is sad for our political future as well. The House of Commons is ruled by those with the quickest wits, not the biggest brains. Which is partly why we're stuck in a political nightmare right now.

Or retarded - you'd have to be to admire Jacob R-M.
An uber privileged, self-serving, wholly out of touch, pompous c**t for whom politics is merely a hobby when he's not making millions though his investment firm, his offshore tax havens or swanning around in his wife's ancestral home.
The unacceptable face of the Tory party, period

Presume you're one of the elderly that voted for Brexit because "back in my day blah blah".

For me they are two sides of the same coin. Both care not one jot for a balanced approach to a modern centrist government/economy, one would reopen the workhouse the other would have us all in one by the time he's finished spending all the money.

Corbyn is a different matter. Just read the Momentum Labour party manefesto!
Hyperbole when used in a statement can elucidate the juxtaposition between two ideologies, that often give the same result despite starting from differing view points. Nothing ridiculous about using hyperbole if you understand English and its use.

As for your choice of hyperbole, well I won't even try to understand the murky darkness that must lie within your reasons using such a statement, what an odd little man you must be.

Low key? Plenty to say on banning abortion, even for rape victims, and gay marriage for starters. If that's the sort of stuff he comes out with while he's being low key, imagine what he'd be like if in a position of real power.

A right wing religious zealot, just what this country needs.

Absolutely right. Take America as an example, or most other countries, there is absolutely no link between obsessive Christian beliefs and right wing politics. My mistake.

Back on topic after a refreshingly Brexit-light Christmas.

Corbyn is doing my head in already and it's only the 2nd January. He is tying himself in knots trying to rationalise his approach. The Labour membership wants a 2nd referendum. He just wants to get into power and to exit the EU, ideally blaming the Tories for a bad outcome whilst secretly delighted that he can execute his 70s socialist greatest hits without any interference from Brussels.

He is still trotting out the same rubbish about renegotiating a customs union, but with no suggestion as to what (non-existent) bargaining chip he thinks could be used to influence the EU. I don't think he even believes it - it's just a device to deflect attention. I hope this is an eye-opener to those in the electorate who bought the whole honesty/integrity/man-of-the-people schtick. He is just as arrogant and disingenuous as the rest of them. I know it's all been said before, but this generation of politicians really is the worst in living memory, genuinely beneath contempt.

Look at this rabble, set of "big" men screaming and shouting at a middle aged women.

Honestly it's like the lunatics have taken over, I wondered who was ruining my afternoon news programs by shouting like cretins off camera, looks like it's this shower, no doubt funded by someone to turn up.
