Im getting my sounds system replaced currently, so I asked all these questions also and thats the answer I heard, paraphrasing it here just.

Yes, but I've opted out of insulating the entire floor, it's just too much work. What I've come to realize is that the roads around where I live are REALLY rough, in order to withstand both the climate and the high levels of traffic (I live just outside Oslo in Norway). Recently I drove on some mountain roads that were built for way less traffic and it was almost silent in comparison. I actually measured the dB level, and the sound level at 110km/t on those mountain roads was the same as at 60km/t on my local roads.

So the road surface has a big impact on the sound level. And the worst roads (which apparently is what I have around me) is probably really difficult to insulate against.

Turns out the rear tire walls are only barely touching the inner lining, so no need to roll the fenders. - It also rubs very rarely, so will see if it wears off, or will consider going down to 255 in the rears.

Your car is gorgeous!!!!

I have the same car /colour combo but I love your mods!

It might be a silly question, with the mods, would BMW (if anything went wrong) give you a 'goodwill' gesture for repairs or wouldn't you bother going to them? I have had a few issues with mine and its currently there for a gearbox shunting/juddering issue.

Thanks

Thank you!

If I had a problem that were clearly caused by my own modifications, I would not try to get that fixed under warranty. I would likely still go to BMW to get it fixed, as I have a very good relationship with my local dealership.

If I had problems that were not directly related to my mods, I would not expect problems at the dealership - but your experience may be different based on your relationship to the dealership and how mod friendly the dealer is.

Couple of updates:

I had some rubbing issues in the back, so I replaced my rear wheels, going down from 265/35R19 to 255/35R19 - which means I can now at least get a finger between the tire and the fender, and now I'm all good. Went with Falken FK510.

Second, I've ordered a tiny (8 litre), sealed subwoofer box that I'll stuff a high power 8" driver (Ground Zero GZUW8SQX 300W 2x2ohm RMS and weighs in at 4.5kg) into, and also add a high power amp to run it. Hopefully this will add a bit of meat to the low end. I'll place it in the area on the left side of the trunk (see picture), so in theory it will steal almost nothing of the available luggage space.

Looks good, unfortunately my F31 doesn't have that area in the side of the boot that the F30 does. If you do it all yourself, can you post a guide of how you connect it all up? Both to the headunit and to the battery would be awesome.

I'll get some help but will be there. The battery is in the rear so that's pretty straightforward. Connecting to get a signal is a bit worse when you have the HK, you need to connect to a high level (speaker) signal close to the amp, and get that converted. You need something like this: https://www.audiotec-fischer.de/en/h...essories/aac.3

Sub in place! Discret and perfect fitment, couldn't be much better if it was custom made. The Helix M One 600W@1ohm Class D amplifier (a different one than I originally planned) is hidden under the floor right next to the original amp, keeping the 8" woofer in check.

It's small, so it's not a wall of sound, but tight and clean bass that supplements the HK and adds both punch and depth. I now have negative EQ (2 or 3 negative steps) at 100hz to give the HK speakers more breathing room, and fill up that void with the new sub. Works like a charm!

As an intentional added bonus, almost 100% of the luggage space is still available, so I can keep the sub in when the whole family is on trips with the trunk filled with bags and stuff.

New winter setup: Stumbled across a set of powder coated 351 wheels (originally from F10). Not used after they were powder coated, so they're in perfect condition. Color is dark grey metallic, almost the same color as the car (Mineral grey). Love the look!

The weather here is horrible at the moment, so sorry for less than great pictures.

Thanks! No, the spec is reasonably similar to what typically fits on F30.

They're 19x8.5" ET33 front and 19x9" ET44 rear.

Good to know. Might look out for a set myself

On a different note. Are you running a carless down pipe on your 330e? Hopefully going with mg flasher this week when my WiFi obd adapter arrives. Curious about emissions. Cars are tested very 2 years in Ireland. Not sure if it's worth fitting a catless DP or even a performance cat version

I have a catted performance downpipe (200cel). It MIGHT pass inspections, but probably not. I have inspection this year (every two years here as well), so we'll see. Worst case I have to switch back to the original.

What is it awkward to remove? Take long to do?

Didn't do it myself, but my understanding is that it is fairly easy to do.

Finally got some nice burbles working too. I like how it's a pretty deep sound (if you listen on headphones and not just your laptop speakers) but at the same time raspy/throathy.

Also happy with the amount of burbles. Not too crazy but pretty consistent
