Pro Nav Option 609 Vs 609A

Hi guys,
Picking up a 2018 335D Xdrive tomorrow and trying to determine from a vin decide whether or not I can activate Apple CarPlay in it. Really, REALLY hoping that I can as id love Waze as my on screen Nav.

Thing is, everywhere I read seems to indicate I need the Pro Nav with option code 609A.

My VIN decode comes back with just option 609.

What’s the difference folks?
Appreciate any help you can offer.

Not sure about 609A but for CarPlay you'll do need the ProNav (609).

Take a look at this: https://www.bmw.com/content/dam/bmw/...3826507496.pdf

Frowned upon by some, you can get it activated via eBay sellers. Also depending on your iDrive version it might not be the fullscreen but the squashed 2/3rds version, which kind of looks pants.

Thanks,
From what I can make out it’s just some decoder sites miss the A Off the code. I can’t find any listed differences.

Got the car and it has V6 and CarPlay but it’s that half size one, and I agree that it looks poor!!

Your right the 2/3rd CarPlay looks naff.

To get the full screen requires the NBTevo to be at a particular version, may be different now but was the case when I did the patch. I paid about £30 for the full screen patch off eBay.

If you have NBTevo_O or _N, it can be done via USB patch. If you have _P, _Q or _R, then it'll be done via ENET cable. Full screen Waze or Google Maps (satellite view), are the best.

Thanks, I am on 6N.
Does it ONLY change CarPlay to full screen? The rest of the system is working fine in split screen still?

Be careful guys with the fullscreen CarPlay.
It's actually a hack, not a question of coding.
If you get this done & BMW do any software updates, it will fry your head unit.
From what I understand the full screen needs to be removed prior to any updates. Which is fine if you're taking it into the dealer, but with more, forced OTA updates, not so much.

That's good advice, will steer clear since mines still under warranty. Thank you.

Hi,
I'm complete newbie concerning this technology, so please excuse me for my very newbie question: my cars have got the right iDrive for CarPlay and I'm currently using Connected Drive without charge. Is CarPlay free to use? If it is, do I need to pay a set-up fee?
Thanks,

Hook into your connected drive on a PC and you will find it there as an option if it’s available. I paid £265.
