Seems to be coming from the drivers door, driving me nuts!
The rattle only appears on a certain road surface, usually not bumps but uneven surface that makes the car vibrate.

Are you sure its the door?

I had exactly the same rattle and it was a loose windscreen brake light cover, hadn't been refitted correctly.

No I'm not sure, it could be behind me but does sound on the drivers side. I think I may need to book in with BMW and take a technician out on the road with me to replicate.

I had a rattle from the driver’s door, maybe not the same as yours.
I put one of my wife’s cotton wool make up pads between the lower
part of the door card and the door.
That cured the rattle I had.
Good luck with this problem.

Only the obvious but I have had passengers leave behind things in door pockets or in the cup holders, double check those and the glove box too?

Odds on its the rubber seal surrounds on the doors coupled with having polished the car with a high silicon content polish e.g. Autoglym!!!

Its a known problem with lots of cars incl BMWs. Seems to be most noticeable in Shadowline models due to trim. Caused by the flexing of the car body over uneven surfaces causing the contaminated rubber seals to move minutely on the polished surface. Most noticeable going slowly on uneven surfaces.

Search the internet for "BMW creaking doors" and see what I mean.

There are a range of solutions people have found from getting the seal replaced, applying tape and applying a lubricant called BMW Gummipfledge. See posts on BMW forums.

My car was brand new and I polished with Autoglym and it started squeaking straight away until I researched the problem. A quick clean with surgical spirit and change to Meguiars Hybrid Ceramic polish [wonderful stuff] and its completely gone.

To see if that is the problem spray a little WD40 on a cloth and wipe the rubber and felt finish seals around the door and the mating surface on the car and take it for a drive. I found it was just the top seals on mine.

Thanks but I've already had BMW apply tape to the doors for the well known creaking on Shadow Edition F30's. Unfortunately this is something else

Sounds like one I have, it’s the lock on mine. The bit you would have pulled up and down to unlock the car from the inside in the days before central locking. It’s loose and rattles around in the opening.

Some people on other forums have had the tape fitted but the noise remains.

Also, the tape is often placed where it is almost hidden from normal view but a couple of guys are adamant that it is the outermost edge of the seal that rubs on the black finish that causes the noise. When they thoroughly cleaned that it stopped.

Does it happen if you drive with the window down as that releases some pressure on the frame?.....if so definitely the seals.

If you are still suffering it may still be worth giving the WD40 a try or even close the door with a tea towel between the seals and the bodywork.

Maybe worth a try.....................good luck as one day was enough for me.

I use autoglym polish. But not of the product comes into contact with the rubber seals. Does the rattle only start happening if the polish gets rubbed onto the seals when the door is open??

I've heard this from the dealer as well. I will be mentioning this on the day of road test as I actually think it could be that

Do you think that could the same on the F32?

I have a rattle from the door, but does appear to go away if I drop the window an inch, albeit the coupe does not have a frame for the window to sit?

This turned out to be a loose washer fluid container. Replicated with the technician in the car and rectified plus tested once resolved. Can finally enjoy the car now rattle free.

I'm having a very similar sounding rattle, did it sound like it was behind you?

Sometimes yes but I'm slightly deaf in my right ear so wasn't the best at tracking it down.

This is what the issue was with mine - A bit of thin black fabric tape cured it for me.
