I own 2014 BMW 435 for 2 years. first of all I want to say that I have disabled start/stop function since I own my car, to avoid exceeded battery usage and also its annoying.
about 3 weeks ago car started showing problem : Battery discharging while stationary and keyless entry was not working for that time, then even 2-3 times battery failed to start, tried to drive for long range, it helped for a short time, but at last I replaced and installed new battery (and registered it) about 2 weeks ago. everything was okay after installing new battery (except rear camera, idk why but after installing new battery, rear camera stopped working and I had to replaced rear camera module, now it works). But today when I tried to open car with door handle (comfort access), it didn't work (first time after installing new battery) and when I started car "battert discharge while stationary" error came back. car started, I checked battery percentage with my bimmerlink and it was above 60% , i dont remember exactly, probably 67% . then I drove for a short range (about 2KM) and stopped car for exactly 2 hour, came back to car and car didn't even start. Now I'm sure it was not battery problem and even my old battery was okay. something is draining battery. I used bimmerlink and scanned for errors after jump started car, these are errors which are not removed, these errors are not clearing up ![]() ![]() Does anyone has idea what could be draining battery depending on these errors? So these are "general" errors and we can't understand specific reason depending on these codes?
I thought 30 Terminal meant something. I've already checked water pump - its okay, since I own my car, "check engine" light has not ever appeared. I've searched of course, some people were saying that it was because of comfort access short circuit, that's why I tried to disable comfort access but as I guess its impossible not only with Bimmercode, also with ISTA. I've also tried to remove #36 fuse but after removing this fuse , comfort access (with door handle) still kept working, so as I guess removing #36 fuse would not help. |

I struggled with this for awhile and recently fixed it. As Wires said, the CAS comfort access is likely disabled as the car recognizes the battery draining and voltage getting low so it shuts of modules to save power. I had also noticed the start/stop button ilummination never turns off.
Measuring in series with the battery with an ammeter I saw 1.1A of drain even after 15 minutes from locking it. It should be in the low mA range. Based on suggestions form the forums i diconnected the cluster, and my patrasitic drain was gone, start/stop light would turn off after a few minutes and the comfort acess worked. In the mean time before getting the replacemnt cluster, removing cluster fuse #50 under the hood stopped the drain. I eneded up having to replace my cluster with a virgin one from ebay. I see some experienced a common issue that may have triggered the cluster short, the outside temp sensor fails then the cluster short develops. Im my case the temp sensor fell out and was dragging on the ground. Last edited by f30_335i_ca; 11-02-2024 at 02:43 PM.. |
