As far as Sirius working (subscription) after physical retrofit...how is that possible? I did not have that before. Just curious, because I only had 693 from the factory and the retrofit NBT-HU has 655 and I did not even code anything yet, just connected the emulator. Then after coding to 655 I lost the subscription again.

If you use Emulator, then you must be using Donor VIN and FSC Codes. If you VO Code NBT, you must have Donor VIN in FA, not car VIN.

Thank you for the quick reply. Yes, for the donor NBT-HU I am using a donor VIN that was suggested by your contact (albeit I had my own donor VIN from the actual unit I installed) and I used the ZeitKriterium he advised as well that matches the 609 option date.

When first retrofitted, NBT was coded and valid for Sat Radio. If you VO Coded it with other VIN or did not have 655 in FA, it would cease working.

again Duh...I blew a Sirius subscription that dropped in my lap... The donor VIN for the NBT has 655 and also the actual NBT has 655 too but I guess I wiped out the FSC code for Sirius. At least the 609 navigation + NBT unit's 2015 maps and voice still works. I hope I am not going to wipe that out too.

Using Donor VIN and 655 Coding should re enable it. FSC Code should be fine, as Emualtor handles it.

So there are three separate VINs here:
- my original VIN
- the donor-NBT-HU VIN (not used at all).
- third-party donor-NBT-HU VIN used to code the NBT (given by your contact).

The strange thing is that Sirius started working when I physically installed the donor-NBT-HU + emulator and my car still had all the factory FA codes including 693 and no 655. Nothing is strange. NBT came to car with working Sat Radio. FA by itself does nothing. The subsequent Coding with FA disabled it.

SirrusXM is an annual subscription service. Even if it was working initially, it would have expired soon enough. Once all is working, just get a new subscription from SirrusXM. It's not that expensive.

Shawn, managed to get EBT working. The main problems were a conglomeration of "user-errors":

- the iPhone not being read while Android works -> default "Apple_Sec_Chip" (spelling) setting, fixed via Bimmercode in Expert mode.

- missing options to enable menu items like Telephone 1 & 2 and Office, messages, etc -> with my new 10.25" screen vs my old 6.5", in split-screen mode was not aware that pressing "Options" on iController will bring up an additional menu

- user profile cannot be set problem -> "Options" menu was not apparent in split-screen mode

Before I started all the VO coding I backed up all my CAFD files. Do you think I could fish it out and "inject it" back in the NBT-HU ECU?

The ONLY Coding you need is to VO Code NBT with 655.

A bit late on the reply as I struggled with the USB ports still not recognizing iPhones. Luckily came across this thread
https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...5#post28358175 and ended up using a USB hub that seems to have solved it. Maybe a good idea to wire up the USB outlets where the power cable gets 5V externally and not from the NBT HU. Will see if it remains working for the next few days.

Looks like there is a combination of issues that could lead to this problem with older BMWs HUs processing a USB hand-shake for iPhones. May be because of the low current capacity of the USBs vs the newer iPhones power-needs, maybe due to enabling EBT, and enabling video, etc on the USB ports. As others mentioned it in that thread this may be too much for some antiquated BMW setups even with the latest software.

I recently add a MFSW to my F20 that does not bring from factory any buttons on steering wheel.

I code the FA with the code 249 and 544.

Now the volume up and down works like a charm, but when I receive a call I cannot answer it from the steering wheel.

What am I missing?

I do know that for the CC work I need to change my cluster.
