installed LED projector welcome lights

Hi all,

So I went for a rice mod that I think is pretty cool, the BMW logo projector lights for the doors when you open them.

Except one problem, I've installed them and now they buzz every time I open and shut the doors.

I've deduced that this is likely from the dimming of the interior lights, since these projectors use LEDs and some LEDs* do not work with the dimmable power. Instead of dimming, they just turn on and off very rapidly. You can't see it but you hear the clicking of the power switch in the projector.

Anyways it seems to me that I'm going to have to pull these out and put in the stock puddle lights, sadface.

But what leaves me scratching my head is that there are others with newer cars than me that claim these are great. So that suggests it's not because of LCI changes. Are they just not noticing the buzzing?

Here is a link to where I purchased from, they had the best reviews out of any listing for these products. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...0?ie=UTF8&th=1

In case link gets removed the company name is Eogifee, on Amazon, product is called "LED Car Door Light Projector".

I've reached out to the company to see if they have dealt with this before/have a resolution but I'm doubtful.

Edit: Billfitz pointed out that the stock OEM puddle lights are LEDs, not halogens.

Thanks,
GFA3

I purchased these for my 2016 435i and they work perfectly, no noise, just illuminated logos when the doors are open.

Maybe you got a bad set?

The stock puddle lamps are LED.

Good call thanks I thought they were halogens because they're not that bright imo.

That's what I'm hoping for. The company said they would send out a new set so we'll see.

Mine don't dim, not when the dashboard level wheel is adjusted, nor when the interior lights setting is changed in iDrive.

Agreed but if you press your center light button above you don't all the interior lights dim on/off? That's when I can hear this buzzing for the duration of the dimming.

But you are absolutely right about the stock OEM lights being LED.

Hopefully I just had a bad set of these aftermarket projector LEDs, we'll see.
