Your opinion(s) please

I am out of country and my Mrs has my 435d. Few days ago, she told that the car won’t start…..I asked her to show it live on FT to see what the issue was….so sitting in the car, with the fob in, she presses the break, pushes the ‘push start’ button, and nothing happens! The starter motor wont engage at all and the engine management light in the cluster is now on. When scrolled through the ‘vehicle info’ to look for faults, no faults and all OK…..I will have a good look when I get back home but the symptoms are weird. The car was all fine when I left a week ago - if (let’s say) the battery is weak, the idrive should indicate it and the power doors, Side mirrors etc wont work – all works fine…its just no current going to the starter motor, and the EML is on….any views what has happened here?
Thanks

How old is the vehicle?

Do you have a professional code scanner like Foxwell? It will be helpful. The state of the battery would be one of the likely root causes.

Call BMW assist if it's still in warranty. That's what they are there for. A very good service

The key may not be pushed in properly. Or the brake pedal is not being pressed hard enough. Wife has done this on a few occasions.

Wife had the same issue!! Next door had hired a wood chipper and my car was in the firing line so it had to be moved. The wife couldn't start it so gave the keys to a random guy to move it.

pissed off and relieved

Tell your wife to do the same

I am returning in a couple of weeks so will find out what has happened!
I reconfirmed yesterday that did she press the break paddle well, and the answer was yes! Hoping that it turns out to be Mrs not putting the required force onto the paddle otherwise it could be anything!!...will update when I return and have a look myself.
My car is July 2014 built.
We have another car so no urgency - plus, the car is out of warranty so no 'BMW assist' available - I do have the breakdown cover which I will use if it turns out to be something I cant fix.

It just turned out that the brake paddle was not pressed hard enough!!!......hahaha....all women are the same, arent they

Her explanation was.... she was just trying to be 'gentle' with my BMW....

ALL fine and the car has started.
