Just had gasket changed under cpo warranty on my 13 335

From my research I've found it's an extremely common issue on n55 and usually cussed from over tightening.

Pic below... This afternoon I changed the oil, and in the process, I pulled the belly pan and took a closer look at things... The front of the belly pan (under the oil filter housing) was clean, as were all the belts. As mentioned and as you can see, there's a fair amount of dirt build-up (172K miles' worth) but it's all dry. As was suggested, I cleaned it up best I could with brake cleaner and I'll continue to monitor it.

Since we're chatting, with the pan removed, I did notice a small amount of leaking oil from a thing a few inches in front of the oil drain plug (second pic, far left). I couldn't tell the origin of the leak... Is this something that likely needs attention?

Thanks!

Here's the other pic that shows the leak in front of the oil drain plug...

Yup, that oil filter housing is leaking for sure. The dirt is sticking to the oil, that is why it looks like that, that is NOT dry. It needs to be replaced.

OK, thanks Yas… I described it as being dry because the dirt was kind of "crusted on" and it felt more solid than liquid... But if that definitely looks like a leak, I'll go ahead and change the gaskets.

Thanks again.

Oh wow, you're definitely leaking. Get it fixed and maybe get a coolant flush too.

Yup! Classic example of the OFH rear gasket leaking. Change both. Done a couple and not hard. I also changed out all the bolts and thermostat housing plugs.
