For those who has retrofitted paddles, does your transmission downshift to lowest possible gear when pulling minus paddle over a second? This is described in PDF attached by zole2112 but for me it doesn't work. I just changed paddles_verbaut to aktiv and paddles works but this direct change to lowest possible gear does not work. Does not matter if stick is in D, S or M it always shifts only one gear at a time.
Maybe I need some additional coding somewhere? Add 2TB to VO? I have basically everything that it includes already as I have quicker shifts, paddles and launch control available. LC was active from factory and I coded quicker shifts long before retrofitting paddles. That is why I did this via FDL coding. I wonder if there is some parameter that I have missed by not coding 2TB. |

Thanks for the info. There is then some misinformation in the pdf. Maybe in some models it would change to lowest possible gear by holding left paddle depressed, I don't know.

So my shifters work perfectly, but I'm throwing a Cruise control error in the car.
I can clear it, but it comes back. ALso, cruise control works fine. In fact all functions work fine. Ugh.

Figured it out, I had the wrong harness cable. With the correct one, from a car that also had a heated steering wheel, it works fine. No errors.

I am thinking to buy the used steering with paddle shift, apart from the wiring and coding, is there anything I should be aware of?

It was pretty easy, once all my parts were correct. Not a very hard at all if your are reasonably mechanical and brave. I am super happy to have done it.
My car is an M-Sport, and it was prewired in the dash for the paddles, fortunately.

Just make sure all the part #s are for a 3 series and be prepared to do some wiring work if your car is not already pre-wired.

Mine is a 2013 335xi N55 F30, it was prewired to the front FEM so I only had to change my steering wheel to a paddle steering wheel and code it for paddles.

Hi guys, not sure if it's already been discussed on here but I was wondering....
I have a 2014 F31 with a non M Sport steering wheel but with paddle shifters already. How difficult would it be to upgrade to the M sport steering wheel with paddle shifters, and will all the functions work? Will I need to buy the airbag separately? Hope someone can give some advice on this. Thanks!

Has anyone tried to make their own harness or not use the paddleshifter harness?

In bimmercode, I went to FEM->Expert Mode ->Paddles_verbaut ->aktiv My paddle shifter still didn't work. How did you code yours? |

Yes`, I have the 2TB coding.
My issue right now is that only the left paddle works. The right paddle does nothing. I checked the plugs/connection and they seem to seated correctly. I saw a youtube video from Kies saying that the "long blue plug' from the wiring harness should connect to the right paddle. I think mine is connected to the left paddle, so I might have to redo that part and see what happens. |

Another possibilities is that the right paddle could've came from another car, like an f10 that has a different resistant value. If you have a multimeter, measure the right paddle. https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...43&postcount=8

It's pretty easy to see if your car is pre-wired for paddles by checking the wiring harness in the passenger foot well. It takes maybe 10 minutes to access it. |
