Interior Trim Snapped Off

Anyone dealt with this before? 2019 440i Gran Coupe front driver's side door trim snapped off, only thing holding it on is the light tube.
Called the dealership and e-mailed them a picture, they said it might just need some clips and to bring it in. If it's that simple, I could save myself some $$$ and time. Thanks for any help.

I can't imagine how you did that. It's attached to the door liner with plastic rivets, which are not replaceable. You'll have to replace the strip, part #5 here:

Thanks, I think the window tint guy snapped it off, it gets really hot in Florida and that might’ve had something to do with it too. Guess I’ll have to take it to the dealer. Only had the car for a couple of weeks before this happened. My 2007 E90 never had something like this break… but just about everything else did lol

If that's the case your window tint guy is an idiot. The heat had nothing to do with it.

I had this happen to both of my front interior door trims. Dealer replaced it under warranty and hasn't happened again. I attached 2 images of the parts they used (right trim had the clamps replaced) I live in Florida so it could've been heat. (2018 440i gc)

Finally took it to the dealer, they said it's not covered under warranty since it's not a manufacturer's defect.

Wanted $194 for part 51-41-7-346-919 and labor cost starting at $600 just to take the door panel off. Also said if there was even the slightest bit of extra work to remove the broken pieces, they would charge more. Even said if the trim couldn't be replaced, would be ~$2,500 to replace the door panel.

I bought a CPO to avoid having to do my own repairs. I mean why put plastic trim on doors? You see the picture, minimum $800 to fix from the same place I bought the car less than 5 months ago...

I have an e90 with ~168k miles, so I'm used to taking off door panels to replace window regulators. I can order the part for less some where else and change it out myself.

CPO wouldn't cover your bumper if you hit a tree. Knowing how these are attached I can't see how it could come off like that unless someone pried it off. I'm sure the dealer feels the same way. If you could prove to him, and BMWNA, that it came off due to some manufacturing defect they'd probably cover it, but that's probably the only way they would.

Having retrofitted ambient light into a euro spec, among other things, I'm inclined to think your ambient light strip's tabs broke due to a manufacturing defect, since they're held into place by tiny plastic rivets, so if you can convince your dealer to look at it, they would likely replace it under warranty.
In case you want to perform the repair yourself, I can confirm just how easy it is to remove the door panels: pop a plastic trim removal tool in the small dent under the inner door handle, unscrew the 2 Torx screws that secure the door panel. Insert a trim removal tool in between the door panel and the door, and slowly work your way around the panel.
At this point, if you have enough clearance, pour some hot glue right around the ambient light plastic tabs. From there, work your way in reverse order.
It takes at most 5 mins to remove the door panel, and disconnect every connector on it.
You might also want to replace the inner door handles, while you're at it, since they tend to become sticky over time.

Sorry for derailing the thread here but how do you attach that trim piece back on? Is it like the inner door handles where you gotta screw in your own screws after?

In fairness reattaching them is simple enough I just bought a hot glue gun and some black glue sticks and glued them one by one. It's been fine for over a year
