18" vs 19" on F30 (18" Fitment)

Hey I've currently got my F30 335i on Billstein coilovers with 19" Rotiform wheels.

I'm looking to switch to a 18" setup.. I'm wondering what I can fit, I'm xDrive so I'd like to go square.. would I be okay with something in the region of 18x9.5 all around +35?

What's everyone's recommendations? Thanks!

Adding to this ^^

I was thinking a 255 or 265 wide tire all around by 40 sidewall..

TIA!

in slicer's 20" setup he's using 265/30/20(26.3") at +32(front), which is 3mm less tucked than if you use 265/40/18(26.3") +35. i don't think he rubbed the fenderwell liner while turning at full-lock, but it will depend on the actual cross section shape of your tire choice(and how girthy it is). if it rubs while turning small camber/caster adjustments or a 3mm spacer would
likely remedy it.

Sorry i forgot to add that at +35, the inside of the 265/40/18 might rub the strut or spring perch, whereas 255/40/18 will not

personally i'd go with 255/40/18 as it surely won't rub(anywhere), as in slicer's set up with 18x9.5 advan tc-4.

Thanks for the input!

Would you say squared 18x9.5 is a better idea then 18x9.5 front and 18x10.5 rear?

if you do staggered, the rear wheel/tire spec would have to be 18x10.5 +45(+40-45) with 285/35/18(25.9") for x-drives.

with the staggered setup you won't be able to rotate front to back. it'll provide a more traction out of the hole, but cause a little more understeer. the rears will look arguably better due to concavity and tire girth and comes at a higher cost.

whether it's a better idea(or not), depends on what YOU want from the setup.

for a semi-aggressive 18" staggered setup, i'd go 18x8.5(or9)+32ish, 18x9.5(or10)+42ish, 235/45/18-265/40/18 if mildly or unlowered, 245/40/18-275/35/18 if moderately lowered.

noticed your pic the 19" thread. i hope you're planning to spend a bit more on rotary forged for the 18", as those cast rotiform wheels look heavy...

OP and I exchanged a PM but I thought it might be nice to share my thoughts for others to see:

You absolutely want to keep your front and rear tire diameters equal with xdrive. The best way to do that is via square tires. Absolutely do NOT do a 255/265 setup. The differential is very sensitive. All that being said I exclusively ran square tires on the car. Either 255 or 265 square.

I ran the following setups:

18x9.5 square Advan TC4 (with 255/40/18 square)
18x9 / 18x10 BMW 513M (with 255/40/18 square),
18x9.5 / 18x10 BBS M3GT4 (with 255/40/18 square)
19x9.5 square BBS LM-R (with 255/35/19 square)
19x8.5 / 19x9.5 BBS LM (with 255/35/19 square)
20x9.5 square BBS RE (with 265/30/20 square)

In the front you need 9.5 et35 to 9.5 et32 to clear the strut on the inside with a 9.5" wheel. This spec works without camber plates.

My wagon was sold on Sunday but i have 2 sets of wheels still hanging around. 18" BBS M3GT4 and 20" BBS RT88. The 20 x 9.5 et33 BBS RT88 were going to be the car's swan song...

What kind of suspension mods were you running when using the:

18x9.5 square Advan TC4 (with 255/40/18 square)
18x9 / 18x10 BMW 513M (with 255/40/18 square) setups?

HR lowering springs with shorter bump stops. That's it, no camber plates.

Hello I'm looking to see if a 18x 9.5 +38 off set will fit on a bmw 340i . I have adaptive suspension and plan on lowering the car on H&R springs . Also I plan on running 245/40/18 tires upfront and 275/35/18 in the rear . My car is RWD . Any suggestions or any feed back . I don't mind running spacers if I have 2 or even fender rolling . I also don't mind keeping the stock suspension as well as adding camber if I have 2. My main concern is to make those wheels fit . I can switch up the tire setup if I must but that's what I'm looking at currently. That's the setup I wish 2 run. I appreciate the help and feed back . I am a very spirited driver. I live life on the edge

One of the sets pictured was 18" (GT4 on the car) and the other was a 20" (RT88). I assume you are referring to the 18" and you wouldn't want 21"

275/35/18(25.6") will fit without issue. 285/35/18(25.9") may fit also, however it may(or may not) require a few extra tenths of a degree of negative camber.
