Did you check for the 12V outlet hidden beneath the passenger side dash underneath the glove box (close to center console)? I have my Escort plugged into that plug and routed to the left side of the dash along the bottom of the windshield.

For things I don't like, here is my list.
-I don't like that to advance to next song, you have to scroll the wheel then click it to select the next song. Audi did this right on their steering wheel scroll wheel.
-Volume on steering wheel are +/- buttons, Wish this was also a scroll wheel ala Audi again.
-Trunk close sounds kinda tinny to me especially compared my wife's previous E46 323. Also sometimes when I close it, it does not close. Have to slam it harder.
-Steering and suspension feel pretty good to me. But I do wish that the DHP sport mode was stiffer. The change is felt compared with comfort mode, but is more subtle than I would like.
-HUD doesn't work well with polarized sunglasses. Seems if I tilt my head slightly then HUD is very visible. Straight-on, it almost disappears. Accommodating for polarized lenses seems like a no-brainer to me.
-Love the hi-res wide screen. But looks like it should retract or at least tilt. But it does neither.

Overall, I like alot more than I dislike on the car. My post for things I DO like is far more extensive.

I didn't shell out the extra $1,000 for the HUD. I was under the impression that it only displayed the speedometer, like the "gimmicky" units from 20 years ago. Unfortunately, BMW does such a poor job of providing any information about what the various tech packages and features actually do that ordering a car is a bit of a crap shoot for the first-time BMW buyer.

Are you referring to something like the "lane assist" feature on my old Garmin? It would tell me that I needed to be in the second lane from the left on a 5-lane freeway, for example. It's the one thing about the Garmin that I miss when using Google Maps.

My system definitely does not do that, and it is in split-screen mode, with the radio on the right side. If you're just referring to an arrow telling you to turn left or right, merge, etc., my system displays it on low-res display below the speedometer and tachometer - where it's mostly hidden by the steering wheel.

Good call, I personally do not have the HUD but I can see that being super annoying as I have driven plenty that have it and it is quite the bother. Could always just opt for the nav as a stand-alone and forego to Tech Package altogether.

Why is that a safety measure? The unlock button would already be disabled when the car is locked from the outside.

There is another plug under the passenger side dash. Hard to find if your not looking for it. That's what I use for my escort max

Out of everything, idrive is the most annoying. I don't get the logic of navigating the menus, it's inconsistent across the idrive system. In one section of idrive you have to move the wheel to the left to return to the parent menu, in another section it completely closes everything and you must use the "back" button instead. It's extremely amateurish of BMW. They had so many years to perfect their interface and it's still crap.
The Steering wheel squeaks a bit while turning in cold weather, so does the brake pads and rotors.

In my personal opinion I find the iDrive (I have the iDrive 4.2) quite easy to use and pretty logical like using a Pre-Torch Blackberry. Did your dealership provide delivery orientations, they are super useful.

Only thing I wish was different about the F30 an F32 was the placement of the radio controls, which is currently on the right hand side of the steering wheel... I wish it was on the left hand side instead.

I hate then cupholders in my car because when I put my waterbottle there for the gym the stick rubs against it when I shift into 1st, 3rd, and 5th.

Terrible design.

The right side of the cluster we have the lcd with fuel saving and all that jazz, what about the left cluster, just empty, why the did not extended that for GPS or hp/torque gage
What about all the cheap plastic in the console? Center armrest that does not slide, and list goes on and on

Lots of things that have been mentioned. Previously had 335I and 135I
Main dislikes:
Electric steering (need option to make stiffer more feel)
useless screen in center of dash (I didn't order nav, parking etc) it needs to retract
Idrive function in general.

#1 complaint: Everything should stay the way you left the car when you turned it off.
Don't default to comfort when I had it in sport
If the screen was off don't turn it on.
Don't turn on Ac if I had it turned off

Minor things:
Have option to sync HVAC to drivers side.
Cant have default screen display radio RDS info
Center console plastic cheap
Cant pick and choose options for lines. Would have really liked to have sport line options like Red stitching and Matte trim with Msport body

I ordered my car before they were available at dealer to test drive. Love the way it looks but so many little annoying things. Now that I have lived with it for a while I am seriously thinking of trading back to a E92.

The door seal design on the E90/F30. It's the most terrible cost cutting design in the industry. Large piece of ugly rubbing looking trim that is almost as thick as a quarter of your entire window panel, exposed without any plastic gloss or colour trim covering over it. Fuck if you want to cut cost, I'll take a matte plastic cover, but please cover that piece of scratch-prone creak-prone wavy ugly-looking rubber.

I can't seem to understand why other than cutting cost. Preventing wind noise? Haha. Extending the roofline without extending the window? Well I don't feel our car have a lot of head room compared to others; it's about the same. Added seal for protection? Well then how come your 5 and 7 series isn't like that. So you are telling me the 3 has better seal than your flagship?

That feeling when you look at a Hyundai Elantra and it has a better door seal design than our car.

F32 next for me, or the GC simply for this reason alone. I'll gladly pay the premium.

I do love the frame-less windows of BMWs GCs! Good call on that!

Honestly I could care less about the frameless or not. It's their stupid decision to have such large door seal, exposed. Keyword is exposed.

I am glad the 4GC is out, perfect for me. If not I rather go F10 next than F30.

The E90 w/o a sport package is very utilitarian! The F30s are much better. Frame-less doors are cleaner looking, I just don't like the seal thing it does (open the door and the window goes down a little bit) because of winter/ice build up.

GSAL55, any explanations why you think they incorporate such a large rubber seal that is visible?

Nope, wish I had a good excuse for BMW on this one, I agree with you. I am sure there is a reason but I can't for the life of me think of anything other than possible wind resistance or being overly cautious sealing... I also don't like how the fuse the roof to the sides of the car.... there's an inch or so gap that is black and looks like crap. I like how Cadillac does it on the CTS - I believe they call it laser braising. They fuse the two panels together and the seam is body-colored. Looks fantastic.

It is a cost-cutting, weight-reducing and environmentally-conscious measure to eliminate weight of using added polycarbonate, and to reduce any additional polycarbonate waste

I tried lol.

Not that I'm aware of in the US. Perhaps in the UK?

Wow. First world problems for sure. The car comes equiped with a remedy for the creaks and little noises...it's called a radio. Turn it up.

Granted I have only put 750kms on the car in a month or so, but I like it. I don't find the interior too cheap, of course I did switch out my trim for the CF kit, but coming from a 2010 C350, I wouldn't say the interior on the F30 is worse/better.

As for the folding NAV screen...just another thing to break/stop working - remember flip up head lights from the 80s-90s?? Careful what you wish for.

I will agree with is the settings reset. Thankfully, MY14 has the ASS issue corrected, but I do find it annoying to always have to put the car in Sport and click the iDrive button to get rid of the warning screen - at least the latter can be coded out from what I have read.

The lock button..meh, not the weirdest thing I have seen in a car. but did/is taking some geting used to.

Cup holder/gym guy - have you tried putting your water bottle in the door panel?...fits quite nicely there and doesn't impede shifting in any way.

Only other annoying thing I have found is that when you grab the drivers door handle to unlock the car, it only unlocks the drivers door. If you grab the passenger door it will unlock all and the rear handles don't unlock any doors when you grab them. Annoying for me since I approach the car from the drivers side and like to put my computer bag in the rear seat. Anyone know if that can be coded differently?? The one finger locking thing is cool though and almost makes up for it, lol!

You can configure the door locks from the idrive menu. No coding necessary.
