BMW are so cheap it's a joke. They know every fucker is going to cough up to buy the LEDs because:
1) the standard halogens look like utter shit. 2) the standard halogens are completely useless for illuminating the road. It's 2015, xenons should be standard fare with LEDs optional... At least. It's the same sort of bullshit that they pull with their LED tail lights only being available post-LCI... Trying to save a few Euros here and there to keep the accountants/board happy. Get a grip. |

It doesn't turn off in Audi, it's dimmed while using signals and you can just disable it with a click

Hello friends. This is just my opinion, but - personal taste - xenon units look much better than LED. I think the projectors (lenses) give them a professional touch. Maybe the LED systems provide brighter light but, due to the reflectors, they are much "halogen like" to me. Good day…

You would be surprised at how many 320i and soon 318i they make with no options fitted. Larger engines are scarce. Xenons more so.

The Acrylic Angel Eye DRLs are nice, but no projectors... no dice.
And for that amount of money, i'm not paying for something that look like fish eyes. No thanks... |

Actually Corollas come standard with LED low beam headlights (the high beams are still halogen). It does not strike me as an overly complex system, which explains why Toyota went with it in the Corolla.

look at mr eagle eyes 20/20 vision here I personally think the halogens arenthe worst ive had in any of my last three cars. but then again they all had xenons so its not a fair conparison but i find it almost dangerously inadequete, especially in the unlit smaller roads in the burbs. Come on BMW, my 12 YEAR old infiniti g came with xenons.

Here is the description of how they work.
The Adaptive Headlights cast their beam in the direction of the curve and ensure better visibility and more safety during night drives on winding roads. Sensors measure speed, steering angle and yaw (degree of rotation around the vertical axis). Based on this information, small electric motors turn the headlights left or right so the beam falls on the road ahead, guiding you into the bend. Headlight beam throw control (a model-specific function) means the front headlights are raised at high speeds and lowered at slower speeds, which results in a wider beam for inner-city driving. The adaptive headlight range control (a model-specific function) takes into consideration the vertical curve of the road. The headlight beam throw control is lowered when driving over a knoll and raised when the vehicle is in a dip. The result: every single curve is illuminated and the oncoming traffic isn't dazzled unnecessarily. Driving at night is even safer, particularly when visibility is poor. Adaptive Headlights are only active when the vehicle is pulling away. They stay switched off when the BMW is in reverse and when the steering wheel is turned to the left while the vehicle is stationary, e.g. when pulling out of a parallel parking space, to avoid dazzling oncoming traffic. Adaptive Headlights are complemented by cornering lights. These are automatically activated at speeds of up to 70 km/h and improve visibility in the immediate vicinity of the vehicle, which is useful when driving along hairpin bends, turning or parking. |

CLAs and C300s do not come standard with xenons or LEDs (in the US at least).

Yup, the E Class has standard LED low beams.
Yes, they are. http://www.mbusa.com/mercedes/vehicl...-E/model-E350W I'm referring to the US. |
