I want to update the maps on my f30 nbt. Please help, what should I do now?

I've now got a 4 series but the maps have never been updated and it is showing 'Europe Next 2014-1' and a code 'NBT_L151184A'

What is the best way to update? Looks like BMW want £70 which feels a bit expensive. Cheaper options?

No, not possible to have Links for a Map that is not even released yet.

I just updated my 2015 328d Nav system thanks to the links that Shawn sent me.

I'm a Mac. guy, so initially I found it a bit daunting reading the information, which was written for PC users. However, thanks to information provided by Gerry, it really was a "no brainer".

Here's a few comments for those of you of a Mac persuasion:

1. the downloads come in as 6 rar files - it's not a common compression method on a Mac, but "The Unarchiver" - http://unarchiver.c3.cx/unarchiver - a free Mac app just worked a treat. On rar files, you start unarchiving on file #1 only (the filenames all have a sequence number) and it automatically unarchives the rest of the sequence or rar files.

2. Once you've done that, you need to move them onto a USB drive, and that needs a bit of care. First, you need to make sure the drive is formatted as FAT 32 - almost all drives you buy will be sold with that format to cater for PC's, so don't reformat them to Mac OS journalled or any Mac format.

3. Next, you need to make sure that OSX doesn't put some hidden files on the USB - BMW designed their upgrades to look in the root of the USB for specific PC files so will get confused if it finds hidden OSX files. The recommended Blueharvest 6 app works a treat - download and install in the Applications folder the same as any other Mac programme. Open the app and switch it on at the top right and then click the + sign and add the USB drive - from then on, Blueharvest acts as a sentry and guards that USB to make sure that OSX can't add any hidden files.

4. You can then drag and drop the 4 folders and files onto the USB icon and, once the copy is done, eject the USB and head off to the BMW.

I upgraded my software on my once a week commute to work - it took around 40 minutes and you can track the progress in the right hand part of the screen.

Overall an easy install, even for Mac users, and certainly cheaper than spending $250 at a BMW dealership
