10.25" Android 9.0 HU discussion

Hi everyone,

Looking for some help here. I have my unit up and running and bought rederick's knob keyboard only to realize that my idrive knob isnt working in Android mode. Touchscreen works fine. Knob works fine in CCC mode, but once over to android its non-responsive EXCEPT I'll get random scroll and selects after a massive delay. Ive checked both Knob A and Knob B with no noticeable difference. This happened to me on initial install and jiggling the connections to the unit seemed to resolve it, or so I thought. Ive tried that again and no luck.

Short of ripping out the dash and redoing the entire install to check for damaged wiring harness, is there anything else I can check? I had a helluva a time getting this unit installed and my hands are bloodied enough from the first go-round.

EDIT: Fixed. I swear these units can be finnicky. Turned out to be a loose connection AGAIN. Even though I had checked previously. I pulled the headunit and removed the connections, cleaned them and reinstalled and the knob seems to be working fine now (and loving the rotary keyboard mod). Hopefully this post helps someone else out down the road.

Hy, unfortunately its not possible to upgrade from 8.1 on your HU, upgrading OS is only possible for Android 9 Snapdragon 625 Headunits.

Hello! I reset it to factory settings. After that, my Bluetooth disappeared from the arm settings.
I used to have feiyitong selected in the bt module and everything worked, but after a factory reset, it is not listed in the bt module list and I can only select wenqiangbc6, but it does not work.

How do I fix it?

Hello everyone and thank you for having me a part of this forum.

I have an Android 8.8 unit and my iDrive Wheel does not let me hit enter/select. Everything else works fine but the enter/select key only works if I press the triangle UP icon on my steering wheel (e90 3251 2007).

I am sure this can be fixed via the settings of the unit but I don't know where to look.

My installer did a firmware upgrade for me yesterday and all was working perfect. Now a day later the enter/select in the wheel isn't responding.

I'd appreciate some help.

Hi everyone. Is it possible to edit the homepage links to custom, like change the first navigation link to opening a preferred app. I use a lot carplay, and when i switch to oem menu or if the wireless carplay doesnt start automatically, i need to go to android apps menu scroll down then open autokit. Thats why i want to make autokit the first homepage link

Depends what version of GUI you're using. On ID6 you can replace some of the tiles with KswRedirect. On ID7 you could change nav tile via factory_config.xml file. Let me know what you're using and I will point you in the right direction.

First of all you need to follow this guide to make a backup of your stock factory_config.xml file - stock is very important word here. If anything goes wrong, you can then revert to your original settings. If you have modified factory config file you can skip this step.

Next you have two options here: you can either modify your own file or use the fully featured one done by kri. If you go with option one, open up your file and to the list of supported nav apps add your CarPlay app - you need to know package name of CarPlay app for this to work.

Option two is to download factory_config.xml from here and again modify list of nav apps.

This is how the list of supported nav apps looks like:

You can go a step further and create a theme with custom tile to show CarPlay logo instead of map and change the description of said tile. More info on that here.

Hy, seems this is a cheap MTK unit ore something else, not a Snapdragon unfortunately updates from here won`t work.
If you ordered an Snapdragon unit, but received this i would recommend you to open a disput to your seller.
the display resolution is looking like 1920 tough.

Anyone run into this issue? I installed a program onto the Avin interface (I think it was an Amazon video download from the android store, and I was prompted to create a pin). I used the exact same pin I always use, and all was fine. After about an hour, I parked my car. When I returned, the unit was pin locked and wouldnt accept the pin I had entered. It's worth mentioning the prior owner still had his store credentials in the Avin, but it let me download and create my own pin. I even got the pin the owner usually uses on his own devices and no dice.

I contacted Avin, and they had me reset the unit with the _KSWOTA_ USB drive but the unit repeatedly just keeps going to the pin screen no matter what I do, including using the hard reset button on back. I re-named the file to Ksw-P-Userdebug_OS_v-ota-reset-data_factory.zip as instructed. Out of ideas at this point.

The instructions I followed are below.

1: Format the U disk and empty it.

Change the name of the USB flash disk in the computer to: _KSWOTA_

It is important that you have an underscore before and after the letters _KSWOTA_as shown in the photo below.

Ksw-P-Userdebug_OS_v3.8.5-ota.zip

After you have downloaded the file above rename the file to: Ksw-P-Userdebug_OS_v-ota-reset-data_factory.zip

3. Insert this USB flash drive into the Android monitor's Yellow USB port

4. Restart the Android monitor's (must power off OR restart poking the RST and to start the force recovery. As shown in the photo below.

NOTE: If the system is not updating, repeat the previous steps to update again. In the fourth step, please wait for two to three minutes before powering off and restarting to force the update.

Hi all,

First time posting on here. Sorry if I have missed it, but is there a central link for the last few MCU versions please? I have the latest but, as with many, the bass has stopped working. Whilst using the workaround does have some success, I would rather go back to a previous version that works.

Further to this, is there a version of Android 9 that is able to have a split screen for me to have the radio and satnav on the screen together? Or is this just available in Android 10 please?

And lastly, I have the dreaded flickering screen as someone else had previously in this page. Is there a way to reduce the temperature for the box as I am fairly pleased with the unit apart from this, and it would be a pain sending it back for a replacement.
