New Owner - General Advice

Hey everyone,

Just recently purchased a 2015 335i and was just wondering if anyone had any advice in general with never owning a bmw in the past. Just looking for any maintenance, things to keep an eye on, and anything else you can think of.

Thanks!

Short answer - treat your BMW like a boat; lots of preventative maintenance. Longtime owner. Other than that, hop online and learn all you can about your car, anything you want/need to know is out there. Good luck with the car.

I live in western OK. Since I'm 80 miles from my dealer and also my Indy shop, I do all my own oil changes and other small maintenance. Learn to do that and save a bundle. I have owned my Beemer for over 7 years and 135k miles.

My Indy shop is Edmond Motorwerks - great people and equivalent in every way (except price) to the dealer.

My oil change regimen (and I have sent in oil samples to verify that it is a good one) is to change the oil filter and top off at 5k miles, then oil and filter at 10k miles. I'm currently using Quaker State Full Synthetic Euro 5W-40 (we get some extreme heat here in OK!) and Mann filters.

Change filter without changing the oil? I would just shorted then OCI to 5k...

And as mentioned, just stay on top of maintenance, including preventative. You didnt say if it was modified, or what the service history is, so you need to understand that first
