Anyone VTd their car with non-standard wheels?

Had a result last time round and VTd my 330d when I got my 340i. No BMW service history which they said would cost me around 200 and I expected to get hit for wheel damage but they didnt charge me anything.

Going to VT again soon in a couple of months, wondering whether I could get away with non-standard wheels when it gets picked up? Thoughts? I have 20 satin graphite Ispiri wheels in good condition. Will the company that collect look into that much detail or just check condition? Im way under mileage this time (15k) and have added MPPSK and MP body kit so am expecting a no-fee VT again, just wondering whether I should go through the hassle of taking the original wheels back off my wifes car and re-furb (shes killed them!) or just take the chance..... anyone any similar experience? If they spot would they charge me for missing originals?? Thanks, Adam.

Yes, they could charge you for the missing wheels - at full price from BMW

As to whether they will or not, that's a gamble for you to decide if it's worth taking.

Oh, and I'd expect the MPPSK and MP kit to have absolutely no bearing on their decision - you've put those bits on, your choice, they aren't going to give you anything for them

Exactly this plus BMW cant AUC the car without genuine BMW wheels or star rated tyres on it.

Wheels, wouldn't you get someone interested to do a swap for no cost?

Even the exhaust part of the MPPSK is valuable to others. Maybe a swap there too with cash your way?

Star marked tyres are not required, BMW AUC do sell cars without star mark. But in any case a VT car goes to BCA for auction, not to AUC.

Sorry to jump in on this OP...

I'll also be VT'ing in the next couple of months. I suffered the dreaded wheel corrosion on the diamond cut finish which BMW wouldn't warranty due to kerbing (fair enough ) When I then had them refurbed I just got them powder coated in Orbit Grey. Do you think that would be an issue, or again could I be pulled up for it being a non-standard finish?

I know dealers do sell them without, but the AUC standard says they should be sold with Star Rated run flats if they came from the factory with them.

BMW buy from BCA for stock.

Unless the criteria has changed since this 2013 BMW AUC salesperson's guidelines was issued it looks as if star rated tyres aren't required.

Depending on what wheels you have and where you are in the country I would be up for swapping for my 442m's no kerb marks but a bit of lacquer peel around the centres comes with the star rated bridgestone run flats.

When I ordered an M235i some years ago I had TRL fit the MP body kit and exhaust once the car arrived at the dealers. I also sourced 2nd hand MP wheels. Sold the 456Ms and had no issues at all when I gave the car back after 3 year PCP.

Id swap them over and not bother refurbing them - youll be quids in.

I vtd my car back in Sept. i had 160 worth of damage on my bca inspection - and the corrosion around my wheels which were curbed wasnt counted.

Never heard back from bmw about the cost - so chased them for the discharge letter - which i got around xmas.

According to the gov site my old car still isnt taxed - so suspect with covid its lost in a carpark somewhere!

As above, definitely swap them over or youre taking a big risk.

Dont bother with refurb. You might get away with it, or if you dont the charges are often less than if you got them refurbed yourself. They cant charge usually inflated BMW rates, there are industry standard charges for refurb when cars go back and its not very high.

Most straightforward and least risk for me, swap and no refurb.
