Hey guys,
Picked up my 440 LCI coupe a month ago and notified the infamous brake chirp.
It happens with the handbrake applied while hopping in and out of the car. And after getting some heat in the brakes, they chirp on takeoff with no brake applied.

Turns out my rear rotor is scored and only fix is to change the whole set. I still have 15,000miles before they need replacing.

Any one else get this or how to prevent in future?

Cheers

Can you provide more information? Will be helpful to know ..

- Did you buy the car new or used?
- What's the mileage now?
- If used, is there a record of previous brake maintenance (rotors, pads)?
- Are the pads OEM or aftermarket? Some ceramic pads tend to score rotors because the brake pad compound is harsher

I've purchased the vehicle 2nd hand with 25,000kms on the clock. I've had the car for a few months now.

OEM brakes and never been changed

Currently have 33,000kms on the clock.

A scored rotor doesn't necessarily chirp. Improperly/inadequately lubricated brakes, including the parking brake, will. If your brakes haven't been re-greased since the car was new that's the likely source of the chirp. As for the remaining pad life, that's pure guesswork by the iDrive, as the car has no method to measure the actual pad thickness. That's done visually on all 8 pads as what should be part of a yearly maintenance routine, along with re-greasing the brake metal to metal contact points.
