Dropped Flashlight In Engine Bay

Im an idiot, I know. I tried to grab it with a magnet but the pull was too weak. It was originally underneath the oil filter and DME cover area (very deep below something that looked like a catch can) It fell even deeper into the engine bay near probably the motor mounts. Car runs and turns just fine in my neighborhood. I have no means to retrieve it. What should I do?

What are the chances it made it there safely if it looks like it went at the deepest point it can possibly go? I don’t want to damage anything if it gets caught. Is that area near moving parts for the transmission or the suspension?

Reminds me of the time the workshop must have dropped a (rather massive) hammer in the engine bay of one of my previous cars..... and were surprised to find it on the undercover 1 year / 15 000 km later during an oil change!! And so was I when they called me to ask if it was mine... (I don't know what answer they were expecting!? "Yes, that's where I keep it." ??? )

Still I wouldn't drive with a flashlight somewhere in the engine bay... - get the car in the air and remove the cover. I can only imagine how annoying this incident must be - I have had bits and screws falling. And almost always that happens a minute after I tell myself "I'd rather be careful not to drop it"

It’s like way in the depths of the car bro. It was at the floor of the bottom of the engine and then when it dropped it wasn’t there anymore, so I’m hoping it went one level deeper to the top of the splash guard. I don’t have a jack or the ability to see anything without removing the intake manifold which is something I am absolutely not capable of. I just drove 45 min to work and don’t notice a single thing

Can't you get it to a random workshop to have it lifted? Can't be that difficult... I would... just for peace of mind.

As celsdogg said, you just lost your flashlight into the belly pan. It will rattle around down there until you remove a couple screws and pull the pan down far enough to grab it.

One of those times that gravity is your friend!
