Even if your car doesn't have the white ambient light, your car still has all 3 wires. But I think it will work without the wire for the white LED. My guess is that all F30 have the same hardware and the white light option is just coding.

2016 4 series (F32/F33/F36) don't have the cupholder LED anymore.
Or more specific, all F3x cars built after 07/2015 are missing the cupholder LED, even with option Light Package.

Also check your new trim when you have it, there you see exactly where all clips are located. Makes it easier to remove the controls from the old trim.

Finally fitted the trim today, can confirm that it will work with only 2 cables (orange LED). However, i made the mistake of not shortening the wires enough on the Y adapter, so cramming everything under the cover was a pain in the ass.

Fitted mine today to a pre-LCI with the matt black dash so I Plastidipped the trim and moved the controls over.
This was easy using old bank cards all along the edge to unclip the controls, took minutes working alone. Couldn't be bothered making up a cable so used some electrical connectors I had in the garage... I've only got Business Nav so there's loads of space for all this in the cavity. Works and looks great... |

FYI, for those of us who do not have the cupholder LED, and thus can't perform this mod, I've figured out where to get a signaled power source (Orange and White) for the cupholder LED as well as the LCI LED radio cover.
I'm waiting on some parts to arrive before I can validate which wires are needed, but I'll create a DIY once it's done to show you guys. Anyone have a good source in the USA for the materials of the original MOD? I'm going to need that as well as some additional items for this to work. (and it may not end up being exactly plug and play like the original one, a tapped line or two may be required) I'll let you know when I have more info. Chew |

Another option is ECS Tuning which is where I got my parts from. Their prices are usually better than any BMW dealer.

I've got all of the parts I think I'll need ready to order from ECS, however they're showing the Trim as backordered. Anyone know of a place that ships to the US at a reasonable cost so I can get playing making cables and my DIY for those of us who don't have the cupholder LED?

The cable really is very simple to make. You dont even need any special tools aside from a wire stripper. Let me know if you need any help.

I've got all of the parts on order to retrofit the trim as well as cupholder LED for those who are missing it. I've hooked up with marcin23654 in order to source the Trim piece as it's nearly impossible to find in the states.
I'll keep you all updated once everything comes in and will make a detailed post with instructions. Dante do you want me to make a separate post for those who don't have the ability to follow your DIY? or would you rather consolidate under a single thread? |

I would appreciate if you'd post it here. That would make it easier for others to find the information. I'll gladly add your findings to page 1 of this thread.

Great Job, David!
He must have exchanged every amber (or white) LED for a blue one. Apart from the footwell, apparently. |
