Vehicle Check vs. Vehicle Inspection

Hey fellas... iDrive let me know that a vehicle check is due soon, yet an inspection is further down the road. Anyone know the difference? My googling didn't yield any concrete answers as to how they compare.

I had a vehicle check/inspection at around 30k miles based on the CBS. It was probably one of the most absolute BS service I ever did. They charged me like $150 for the inspection and all they did was run like a diagnostic test thru the DME and give me a stack of papers telling me the condition of the car.

What even worse is that there is no way to get the vehicle check light to go away unless you go to bmw. I only did it for the service record and to get the light to go away. F%^&* stealership.

You should have invested that $150 in a Foxwell NT 510, which runs diagnostics and clears vehicle check lights and more.

I've never heard of that until now so thanks for the info. I also did it for the service record for if i ever sell the car down the line. second most expensive piece of paper I ever paid for besides my bachelors degree LOL

You don't need to have a service record with the dealer. If you have work done by an Indy save the receipts. If you do work yourself keep the parts receipts, and write on them the mileage when you did the job.

So I went to the dealer and they confirmed its mostly the same thing as the vehicle check that I skipped. I think I'll go for it in the spring. But should I remove my JB4? They mentioned taking my car for a test drive go check things and I don't know if they'll take a close look in the engine area. My JB4 is one of the older ones with the positaps that I bought the OBD adapted for, so you can easily see the wires running on the car.
