suspension on 2018 F34

Is it possible to get adaptive suspension on the F34?

I hope so, but have been told you can not. I am hoping to get one of the last remaining allocations for a 2018 340i GT and, for what it's worth, have the M package specced.

As long as I am still waiting, I thought I would look into it. Thanks.

It doesn't show up on the online configurator, but it is in the 2018 F34 Ordering Guide. I ordered my car a couple months ago and was able to include it. Checking my VIN with an online VIN decoder shows that it was indeed built with the 2VF Adaptive M Suspension—that's as much as I can confirm until I take delivery next month. Good luck, apparently F34 allocations in the US are super tight right now.

It seems to vary dramatically geographically. A nearby dealer lied and told me the vehicle was no longer in production (probably had no allocations), another in a distant state had several and could take a custom order for another, and finally a dealer in a nearby state had a couple on the ground, and some more coming on the boat, one of which was perfect for me and he sent it to my driveway on a truck from his dealership after arrival. Bottom line, shop around and contact dealers in larger urban centers within reasonable distance of your home who might be higher volume and have more allocations.

Thanks, Scotto. This information was enough for me to get the dealer to investigate further and confirm that adaptive suspension is available for an additional $700. That's the good news. It sounds like your make will have it and, for your sake, I hope so.

The bad news is that the dealership did not obtain an allocation for this month, even though they told me they had. They said they had been given enough assurance to believe it was pretty certain. And, next month is apparently 2019 production.

So, it looks like my options are: a) they find an allocation or car through a dealer trade or b) I buy a 2019 model. But, I do not want to lose the $3,000 incentive I have on this deal. That would be gone with the 2019 model. I also do not really want to change my color/trim choices or specs of nearly "all the bells and whistles," if a variation popped up somewhere.

Irksome, to say the least. This is my first BMW, and I want my new wheels! Anyway, thanks again for your input. My eventual GT, whatever year it is, will have the adaptive suspension.

Great news, Bimmer friends -- I'll be getting a 2019 model with all the same incentives, plus the adaptive suspension. I'm relieved and excited.

Congrats on all accounts! I didn't know they were doing a '19 model year for the F34. Guess '20 will be the new G series GT.

(Also, just in case things get hinky with your dealer, your location means you can essentially order from any BMW dealer in the US and just pick it up for free in Spartanburg. Sounds like you have everything buttoned up, but if it becomes unbuttoned, I can hook you up with my sales guy who is rock solid.)

FYI unless I've missed the news the rumor is there will be no G series GT at least here in the USA. If that is true the 2019 will be the last year for a 3GT for the time being. Always possible they will re-vamp and it will turn up as a 2021 or 2022 model on the G platform but not looking good at the moment. Slow sales here might kill it.

So if you want a new 3GT better plan to get it soon.

The word is also no wagon for the USA either though it will be built and sold in other markets. Again there will be a 2019 model year wagon on the current F31 platform sold along side the new G 3 series.

I do not know anything about the G series GT.

I hope things are pretty buttoned up, but won't really know for a while. Thanks for the contact offer, but I hope things don't go sideways and that I don't need it!

Once we get an allocation, I'm definitely doing the "performance center delivery" and will be checking out the BMW factory as well as the track. I am hoping my old man will be able to join me. Cant' wait!

Rumor has it that the GT will be relabeled as a 4 series, and the 4 series GC may go away. That's in line with what happened to the 5GT. Claims that the 5GT would go away turned out to be true, more or less, as the 5GT nameplate is gone, but the car still exists as the 6GT. Slow GT sales in the US isn't going to end a platform that does well in the rest of the world, where SUV/pickup truck mania hasn't taken hold.

Yes, with the G platform giving rise to a larger car for the next gen 3 and 4, now that a 1 Sedan and 2 GC are coming, BMW has apparently decided that one D segment 4 door hatchback will suffice. I can't tell how the nomenclature game will turn out, but the good news is that it seems one 4 door hatch with comfortable rear seat and cargo room will survive.

if the 4 GT experiences the same margin of improvement as the 5GT > 6GT transition, we're in for a treat. I think the new 6GT looks amazing.

If my Canadian cannabis stock investments pan out the 6GT will likely be my next, probably an E version, as that's going to happen across the board.

I hope they do come out with a replacement 3/4GT because I plan on replacing my 2014 3GT in about 4-5 years and I'm not willing to pay for a 6GT.
