I have been very happy with my 320i, but the spec is important. Things like Sports package, wood trim, nav, led lights all help it seem not so cheapy.

If you are planning to put a body kit on it, just look for a 328i/330i M sport and save yourself the trouble.

But I don't know what the price differences are in the UK for used/new 320i vs 328i/330i.

Good luck.

If you plan to mod for more power, I would recommend a 328 or 335. There's not much you can do to the 320 to make it faster.

If you don't want to go faster and only plan to add cosmetic parts, then the 320 is perfect for you!

I have to second the above. I compared a 320i that was an M Sport, and loaded, vs an M Sport loaded 328i. If acceleration, speed is the objective, go even higher for the 330i. The 320i seemed labored, thrashy. The 328i is faster and more responsive. I considered the 6 cylinder, but for the extra cost, extra fuel consumption, the 328i is a great car. And gas is a lot cheaper here. And it's fast enough for me. It's also very smooth. Compare and decide.

I am on my second 320, a 2015 and now a 2018. Love these cars! Great handling, great gas mileage, plenty fast enough for me. Small, nimble and quick around town.Easy to park.

It's all relative... but, what I like about my 320i is: it's closer to the original idea of what a BMW once was. It handles great and it's fun to drive. The car is perfect without loads of speed and options I think. Having said that I did have to mod it to bring out some of the engines potential, but that was all fun work. Without too much effort - now it's quick enough, and it was comparatively inexpensive to most bmws, which was important for me living as an artist and father of 2 (1 who is only 5 months old).

You can mod a 320 with JB4 and Dinan and get similar gains as the 328 as the engines are very similar. There should also be bootmod3 flash tunes available.

I'm not hating by any means but I feel like the 320i is for people more interested in the badge and being able to say that they drive a bmw. Most of them that I've seen have been driven by younger females (i.e. early 20s) and the few people who I've spoken with who drive them (i.e. early 20s females) all leased the vehicle. They were not the type of person to even know the difference between a 320i and 328/330, or even 335/340, let alone the nuances of trims (i.e. sportline vs. luxury line vs. m sport....).

Its tough having people say "get x (the next level up) car instead!!". As a 328i owner, I would absolutely prefer a 340 or m3. I guess that's the question -- will it satisfy you?

No question the 328 is faster stock. I’ve driven X5 sports (beast), 5 series and m3’s with Dinan everything, and yet regardless all bmw’s have their own unique fun factor. But op should test drive both. I’m happy with my 320i for now, no car payments was my goal.

I think a 320i is a fine buy with the exception of if a 328i with similar options/miles/model year is available near you.

There are tons and tons and tons of F30's on the market right now and the 28i is generally within a few hundred bucks (or less) of a 20i of the same year and mileage. It's a no-brainer in that situation.
