122k 01/15 build.

More reliable than a Camry. No leaks. Only complaint is that the n20 doesn't sound as good as the n55.

Build date 11/12 n20. Car and engine have around 125k on them. No issues other than standard maintenance. (plugs, air filter, fluids, etc). Clutch should be coming soon but it holds FBO stage 2 with ease on the BM3 91/93/E30 OTS tunes.

Can I compete for the lowest N20 mileage ? My built date is Nov/13, and I just reached 40,000km (24,854 miles) couple days ago. This ongoing covid certainly is putting a stop on driving even more.

100k, 09/2012 build

- shocks/struts
- timing chain/guides
- brakes

Will be averaging 36-40k miles a year so I should blow by past everyone real fast

2013 328i 6MT RWD ( 7/12 Build Date )

Just hit 107k miles and have been tuned since 60k miles, For the most part ZERO issues.

I just did my manual trans fluid which was BLACK, The only issue which I have been monitoring is the Timing Chain / Oil pump stuff.
I only have an oil pump whine when the cars warming up.

Once its warm its completely gone and I do not have a chain noise / issue.

I have done a ton of research on here and from what I have found the Oil Pump Whine and chain noise are completely separate issues.
You could have one or the other or both, The pump whine I hear is more or less harmless besides the annoying sound and I have even
heard that if you replace the pump it will come back.

My chain is tight but in the future I may consider replacing it all with the KIT FCP has assembled, Right now theres no reason cars running great.

Do you have an Auto or Manual? ( my car is a manual ).

BMW claims its one of their "Lifetime" fluids but if you know cars which Im sure you do thats just marketing BS...

I did mine at 107k miles but anytime 75k-100k is prob fine for a manual, It cost me $36 from FCP and took about 30 mins or less to do ( see my post below ).

Super simple and worth the piece of mind, Gonna tackle the diff next.... This has been a great car.

Some stretching on it using the BMW procedure. Also wanted my engine to be reliable for the 180mi daily commutes

What were the symptoms of the TC? Or was it preventative maintenance ?

My car Is automatic, I was told by my mechanic the same about "it should last the lifetime of vehicle" but if need be, that I really dont need to change the fluid just yet

No symptoms so it was preventative, but it failed the test

Oh I see. How was the test performed ? Was the valve cover removed? I heard there's some tool to check for tension on the chain or something like that

Just do a little research theres many in depth threads on this, Ill post links below. Chains should never be preventive maint they should be lifetime parts as in "Real Lifetime" parts.

Unfortunately Our N20s are known to have issues sometimes with them and why you need to monitor them and only replace if you feel its going south to avoid a catastrophic failure.
