missfire
finally got all my mods to run correctly!! But now there is a new problem..
When i drive normal regular shifts just cruising around no problems. But when i go WOT and only in 5th gear. So around 70-85 mph the car has a problem shifting it struggles to shift sounds almost like burples. It dose shift but its rough its not smooth.. almost feels like if you put to much e85 in and it struggles to ideal and is jerky. But i haven't run any e85 in months and only run shell 93 gas so i dont think its fuel pump? Maybe it could be ignition coils ? only thing i could think just changed plugs not even 2k miles ago any ideas? |

E85 will usually require an oil additive if it's not "flexfuel" ready. Don't know of any bmw that's E85 ready. May have to drain the tank if there's E85 still in there, it's hydroscopic, so it can make a meatball of water in a short amount of time. I'm sure you have googled this. I'd drain the tank, new fuel filter maybe new hpfp/camshaft, fuel lines, injectors. Yeah, pricey but E85 will frak stuff up if not designed for it. |

Without seeing any logs I don't think anyone here can tell you why your having these issues. Air/fuel trims, boost levels, hpfp duty etc. I would flash back to stock and see if the issues are still there before I kept swapping in parts. In my opinion a bad coil pack wouldn't only malfunction in a certain gear at a certain speed because none of that is related to its function. I believe your tune is suspect.

OP I just looked at your thread history and in the past month you have had drivetrain malfunctions, used e85 on a regular fueling system, straight piped your exhaust because "money is tight right now", mentioned a valve cover leak, more codes, issues with an intake, and now more codes and misfires.
I would say ALL of this is contributing to your problems. If Your car was working fine before the tune and all the "wrenching" you have been doing maybe it's time you brought the car in and had a professional go through it and tell you what's going on. Seems like there could be multiple issues. And in response to one of your other threads... for the love of god don't put a big turbo on your car while it's in this state. Actually don't put one on at all unless all the work is being done by a professional which I can GUARANTEE you is more than the cost of a rear m sport bumper. Seems like you're in the midst of a very expensive life lesson my friend.

OP, I didn't follow all your other posts (sorry), but based on your symptoms, it sounds like you've lost a cylinder, 'maybe' a coil, maybe one of your new plugs was loose? The torque seems impossibly light (at least it seemed so on mine).
I've learned to believe in proximate causes, though they're not always the case...but a good place to start looking for solutions. Also, relating to the post above and your learning expensive lessons...you can minimize the cost by learning more. I learned quickly about cars after I spent $2500 replacing a cylinder head in my '92 325i because I didn't know that the car could actually drive 10 miles without an accessory belt. Who knew you needed a water pump? Anyway, that 'burble' sound you hear does sound like a missing cylinder. I think of it as a sputtering. Get your codes.
