Buying used wheels and tyres. What to look for?
Hello,
I'm interested in some used wheels which come with some fairly unused tyres. What should I be watching out for? Some things I was thinking of: Speed rating Load rating Tyre age (what age limits are okay?) Bent wheels Cosmetic issues with the wheels Thoughts?

Tires should be no more than six years old. So, if they’re fairly unused tires that will be in use for a while you want the tires to be quite new. I would say no more than three years old. Of course, for the wheels you want them to be free from curb rash, not cracked, or bent.

Ya I'm mainly worried about the age component. The tyres are pretty much new (9/32) but they are 4 years old.
Also, they are winter tyres and so in addition to being new, they would be in service for much longer.

Michelin recommends replacing tires after 10 years regardless of tread, so 4 years old and 9/32 should be fine. Inspect the tires for cracking and delamination.
For wheels, if you think you are getting BMW OEM, check the inside of the wheel, usually on one of the spokes, for the BMW roundel or part #. Some copies look great from the outside but reveal themselves to be cheap copies upon further inspection.
