Pure stage 1 install xdrive

Has anyone ever done a Pure turbo stage 1 on a xdrive without removing the turbo manifold ? Was told this was possible any insight ?

If you're gonna upgrade you might as well go for at least the Stage2 from the beginning - cause yes, I have the Stg2 & I DID have to remove the entire manifold to install on my 435ix

I was doing this on ramps in drive.

It's such a PITA that you only want to do it once

What? If it's a stage 2, it must have a machined out turbine housing anyway, requiring the whole manifold assembly to be swapped.

If you got sold a "Stage 2" with a stock sized turbine, you got ripped.

You are correct- I never really looked at the Stg1 specs - according to Pure the Stg1 can be installed without mainifold removal - now that might be simply because it does not include new manifold - question still remains whether or not needed with xdrive due to tightness of packaging

My Stg2 was directly from Pure & obviously I had to R&R manifold

Install either way on xdrive is assumed to be a PITA (as with so many other items vs. RWD) so I still stick by my thought that if you have to go thru all the trouble-might as well go with the Stg2

That's a nice price for a PS1. I went with PS2 on my X3 and installed it myself. It's a total PITA to install, but well worth it. All wheel drive models do require removing the entire turbofold, even for PS1.

Where did you get ps1 for $500?
Used from a guy who pulled it off a customers car. Had only supposably been ran for 3500 miles . All appears to be fine with it , no shaft play or resistance . No noises ,turbine spins flawlessly .

Nah I don't want to spend the money on PS2 right now . Ima be selling car soon to switch to a s55 platform . Just thought for the $500 I would get some enjoyment out of it for a lol while longer .

Thats a lot of work to go through for a very small improvement over stock. Everyone says the swap is a lot of work on xdrive and something you would only want to do once. Go PS2 or better man or sell it ,be patient and get your F80

stage1 turbo is great improvement vs stock pwg turbo and can give extra 5psi at high rpms. if you have ewg - yes, ps2 is only way to go.

Yes exactly , I mean for the HP increase from 40-75 the $500 and time is well worth it .

I installed ps2 on f30 xdrive, motor mount goes out, hold engine with a jack, remove fan, and some oil lines, remove downpipe, done

Yeah but on stage 1 you shouldn't have to remove the turbo manifold from what I'm seeing . I guess I'll find out tom when. We start tearing into it

Who's Steve? I am very interested in a pure stage 1 but hesitant to pull the trigger as I am hoping I can find a smokin deal on one used potentially.

Steve Samuel he is a sales rep for pure turbos , I did install the ps1 I'm very happy for the money spent . Well worth it . But if you have the money might as well go ps2 . But if you can get a ps1 for under $800 I say go that route .
