I would buy the newest/lowest mileage 328 you can find and be done with it.
Example: My purchase, which was a well optioned 328 with 29k miles for $19k. Would absolutely not change my decision if I could go back. Best car I could have got for $20k If we stretch the budget to $30k, I would not choose a 335. |

The N20/N26 328i and 320i will probably become the most reliable BMW engines seen in the US, provided the TCs do not break. |

328 for sure. I had 2 already & couldn't be happier. 335 would be nice if that's your weekend ride.

Good man. Not to pry into your finances but for others if you pay for the maintenance plan and finance through BMW they drop your interest rate to the point that it's silly not to get the maintenance.

oh for sure, if you don't sit in traffic much, or do a lot of stoplight to stoplight driving, its easy to average upper 20's. I regularly get low to high 30's on the highway. city driving absolutely kills it though

Realistically, I think one should prepare to spend at least about high 20's to 30k+ if looking for a nice, used 335i. Anything less, and it's probably going to have some miles on it, or have some issues, and be out of warranty. I'm not saying that you can't find a good 335i for 20k, but at that price point the shopper should be prepared to deal with, or know how to handle the issues that tend to arise in aging bmws. At 30k+ you can get a gently used 335i that still feels new and special, has options that you want, has factory warranty remaining, cpo, and is less likely to be a time sink (unless you want to make it your project). |

this was one of my biggest debates with myself but ultimately went with the 335. 100% love my decision, the power compared to the 328 is very noticeable. either way, both cars are awesome!!

Looks like this thread is coming to a happy cooperative ending for me I had the choices between 328, 335, and M3 with max budget of 50k but of course, the less I spend the better it is. I wanted something comfy and highly dd able since my gf and I go on road trips a lot and like cushy GT feeing rides. So I kicked M3 out. Also, I didn't really need it at mid 20s stage of my life. I wanted the HUD though, so i actually did seriously consider 320, it no HUD no go. So I arrived at 328i. It was good for occasional fun and spirited drives while being plenty comfy with adaptive suspension. I figured it was plenty for my needs with all features and if I were gonna get an M3, I'd want to be at a point in my life where I can track it at least once a month. And with the money saved, it's whole lotta traveling I can do in addition to what I can already do. But all are great cars.
