Lowering springs advice

Hi all again, looking for some advice on lowering springs. Please see picture of my car, thinking about 25mm front and 20mm rear or could it go a tad lower?

What size wheels are those? 19s? Personally, I've had and recommend H&R Sport lowering springs if you want a drop but not a serious drop. If you don't have xDrive and want a bit lower of a drop you can also try H&R Super Sport Springs. I had the sport springs and loved them because I could still daily pretty well but now I have BC Coils and slammed and love it

What year and model? XDrive?
Avoid H&R springs. They are stiff/harsh. Eibach springs are much better for daily driving. Make sure to install shorter bump stops. See photo

Hi guys, thanks for replies.

The car is a 2015 2.0D, not X Drive. Yes the wheels are 19inch. Thanks for recommendations, I will look into it a bit further.
I am offshore on an oil rig at the moment so when I am back home getting springs, spacers, front splitter and retro fitting fitting paddles shifters done.

The car has already been remapped to stage 1 with DPF delete and decat, looking into stage 2 when do springs etc, cheers.

I don't have experience with Eibach but I have heard they are softer. I don't think the H&R was that stiff in terms of ride comfortability, it did get rid of a lot of body roll but was not uncomfortable for me and daily driving over 40k miles on them.

Eibach springs are about 10% stiffer than stock so I wouldn't phrase them as softer or guys could get the wrong impression. But H&R springs are about 30% stiffer which I consider adding harshness, which I wouldn't do on a street daily driver. Just my opinion.

I also agree with H&R. They're a great spring, feel good, and I didn't find them overly harsh by any means. I'm also currently on BC coils and they're fantastic!

Just save up a bit more and get coilovers - or b8's to go with your springs. Your oem shocks are gonna suck when paired with lowering springs - the car will drive like crap.

H&R's on my Audi were HARD, even with B8's, but spring and strut are harder anyway. Went with Rev's, but they don't make springs for bmw.

I'd also avoid eibach, they are jokingly in the business as "show springs". Just go coilovers and get it done.

deviantspeed suggestion to consider coilovers is worth considering.

There is nothing wrong with lowering springs. Lowering springs provide a fixed outcome: certain height and certain performance profile.

What if the fixed outcome isn't satisfactory? Only coilovers provide more suspension tuning options - if having this flexibility is a requirement.

Not sure what you mean, must be on .fr or .eu Only coilovers should give a spring rate, and a dampning rate. Nothing different from springs and struts, well there is but it's boring.

edit: also you might mean coilovers with dampning adjustments.

Coilovers typically provide the ability to raise or lower suspension with threaded body design. Plus - compression and rebound controls depending on brand and model. Together, these options provide a much broader suspension tuning range.

I have a 340i w/Adaptive Suspension and have used both the Eibach Pro Kit and the H&R Super Sport. For comfort and progression (they stiffen predictably the harder you push them), you can't go wrong with the Eibachs. If I could have found Eibach Sportline for my car I would have gone with those, but they were not available. I was also running VERY aggressive offsets with the factory 19's and no rubbing issues.

The H&R's run slightly lower (still no rubbing), but they do seem just a bit stiffer. That's not to say they're uncomfortable, but you def feel the difference. But both work great with the Adaptive Suspension and they are both marketed to work very well with the factory shocks.

Hope this helps!

Looks like you have the blue calipers and likely adaptive suspension. The dinan package was made for this suspension and does a great job to reduce body roll, and make the car less bouncy.

Springs + Bump-stops + Shockware edc tune
