Also, what is the expected first ED date? Can ED deliveries be setup ahead of US sales (say 1 month) since the car won't make it back to states before US sales start. Or, do they delay any ED until US sales actually start? |

You can probably pick up an F30 as soon as U.S. production begins because they are all cars being built for the U.S. market;; but you'll still have to wait for it to be built. And don't expect to get the car back here before the dealers are selling them domestically. They're all sent on the same boats.... |

Thanks. No expectation of getting the car back before US sales start. I was just hoping to get ED in mid-March during school spring break and take the family. Would appreciate if anyone has any solid information.
I have been planning for a 535i but will have to give some serious consideration to the 335i as I really want to stay smaller & sportier. However, that will mean a different ED experience with less driving due to smaller car. |

Got very interesting info from the BMW European delivery department
(1-800-932-0831) which pretty much confirms info in this thread.... The tentative launch date for first pick-up is March 1st, which would coincide with how production started 7 years ago. But as mentioned here, its a 2012 F30, so it would appear that the 2013 MY will start later (my guess is in August), but there's no info on what they'll be changing. |

Seems silly for them to run the U.S. 2012 car for only 3-4 months....what's the point if the German plants are about to shut down in August? Very strange.... |

Not sure why they are ending the 2012 MY so early for the F30. For the other models (like the E92/E93, 5 series, X3, X5, whatever) it is reasonable since those are going into production in just a couple weeks. But F30 production for US spec cars doesn't even start until March of next year or so. By the time any F30s make there way to the dealership lots in the US (assuming that the late spring date being quoted for that is correct), MY2012 production will almost be over with. It is going to be strange for folks walking into the dealerships in May/June shortly after the launch. I imagine they will be told that if they order a car then, they will actually get a MY 2013 and that no ordering/pricing/revision information is available yet. |

I know at at some centers we are taking deposits for people who want a new 3 series. I know that I have already done 2, so as soon as we are supplied with the allocation, those cars will go into the order bank in P1 (Customer Sold)
I will be getting mine as soon as the Employee Lease program is applied! |

According to that chart, it looks like the E91 production runs at least until June 2012. Man, I hope they decide to bring the F31 to the US or at least give a firm answer in time for those who would otherwise order an E91 before tourings are gone for good.
