I'm removing the "4" badge and replacing it with a "3" badge. (The 4-Series does not exist to me...)

The same rumors about it being called a for series were swirling around when the e90 was coming out and people thought that he 92 would be called a four Series. As you can see, that didn't work out

Yes but it is going to happen. BMW need to distinguish the FWD 1er models from the RWD 1er models. Hence why the sportier Coupe and Cabrio will be called 2er. In order to provide continuity with the 2er and 6er the 3er Coupe has to become the 4er. It will also provide BMW to extend the profit margins on the Coupe and Cabrio models similar to Audi and it's A5 Coupe and Cabrio.

Maybe if the Spy photographers were not so anticipated on the excitement of "Breaking Dawn" coming out and stayed out later than usual they would snap the Cabrio.

Hmm.. do they test 335's on the street as well? I wanna hear the N55 engine, are there any differences with the current model engine?

Is there any reason to not think this will end up looking like a baby 6 series?

i don't know why but it keeps reminding me of a mustang...it looks like a hatchback than a coupe..hopefully it's just the camo.

Hi Scott,

Is there any indication that you can give on launch dates for the 2er Coupe, will this be late 2012 (Paris, 1 year after 5 door hatch) or early in 2013? Am a bit worried that the 4er Coupe is being prioritised (mules spotted but no 2er mules been spotted - is this again due to the photographers focussing to much on Twilight or are they just not out there?) over the 2er...

Thanks!

2 Series no, but there have been spy pics of the 3-door 1 Series hatch.

[QUOTE=SCOTT26;10806310]...BMW need to distinguish the FWD 1er models from the RWD 1er models. Hence why the sportier Coupe and Cabrio will be called 2er...QUOTE]

the distinction seems to be based strictly on sportiness, not drive wheels, otherwise the rwd sporthatch would also be a 2er; it's as you say: 'to increase profit margin on the sportier models'. mercedes benz had an advertising slogan several years ago that said: "at mercedes benz 2 doors do not cost more than 4 doors", referring to which car i don't recall. i personally would be very reluctant to pay much more for just a different shell. seems to me that the sedans are shaping up to be the better value propositions; unfortunately, in the u.s., the smallest 4 door will be the f30 and i'd really like an f20(or smaller) size vehicle.

Are you saying here that in a couple of years all 1 Series will be FWD, including the next generation of the Sporthatch?

Im on a info list in canada, but ive already told them i wont be interested if its significantly larger than my e92. Not that they care though. It will sell like hotcakes.

I for one will also miss the 3 series moniker.

I dont really care what they call it, 3, 4, doesnt really matter, I just hope it always looks like a coupe version of the sedan. If it takes on its own design and life, it will seem as though the two cars are no longer connected.

That sucks coupes were always a bit more anyway, now I guess even more.
