short circuit lock reset
Hi folks, first post here:
2012 320D ED The more I look into this the more confused I get It appears as though I have a short circuit lock on the right hand (drivers side in my case) door mirror indicator (turn signal) Having taken it apart to check and replace the indicator it was clear someone had already been at it and removed the plug that goes into the light itself, they then simply inserted the socket pins directly onto the receiving pins having twisted the wires together I'm assuming their messing about caused multiple shorts or it was the result of multiple shorts caused by water ingress, either way I have no certain way to know for sure. So, I replaced the indicator light with a new one but it still doesn't work, I checked for voltage at the pins and oddly it will show 12v whether the indicator is activated or not, not being familiar with BMWs I'm guessing this is a canbus voltage that allows it to monitor the circuits? Anyway, I want to see if the circuit has been locked due to too many shorts and if so reset it. Now, I know there's a program called tools32 but the only video I could find on resetting the lock was very difficult to follow, I've also read that bimmerlink via the short circuit lock section, however I saw that section on the main screen in a video but it doesn't not appear on bimmerlink's own images not on the images at the playstore and to add even more confusion it seems that there may be a non full version for the British Isles and the full version is not available here Seems every turn I take it all get more ruddy complex. Thanks for readin all that and thanks in advance |
