Arrow 2012 BMW 3-series (F30) Rear View Revealed Via Render

2012 BMW 3-series (F30) Rear View Revealed Via Render
55
COMMENTS

We bring you a realistic look at the upcoming 2012 3-series F30 sedan's rear view, revealed by reference to real life spy photos and using our talented artists' skills. What's revealed is a not-revolutionary, yet stately and handsome rear.

The F30 3 series will feature rear tail lights in the classic L-shape, lit by LED light bars. The trunk will feature a very slight integrated bill, toned down from the E90 3-series' more aggressive trunk bill. All F30 3-series have been spotted with the same rear lower bumper trim as seen in this render.

From this rear 3/4 view, the side double character lines are again evident and provide a smooth transition for one's eyes from the rear lights all the way into the front fender and hood.

As we reported recently, the F30 3-series will begin production in November 2011 (after production of the E90 ends in Oct.), and will come to market as 328i and 335i models. The 328i will most certainly be powered by the 'N20' turbo 4-cylinder inline engine (as found in the Z4 28i, details) and the 335i by a turbo 6-cylinder inline motor.

F30 sales are expected to begin in Europe around the time of its world public premiere at the 2012 Geneva show - in March, 2012. US sales should begin in late Spring of 2012.

Ummm, besides size and other obvious attributes...This is waaaaay too close to the 5-series. C'mon BMW... Staring to get like Audi? Same thing pretty much applies between the current A4 & A6. Disappointed

It looks like BMW is finally going back to that same sausage different length attitude. Not cool.

I don't think it was ever that much before. Good render though. We'll see when the final images are released.

The facelift rear of e90 is beautiful & elegant, way better than this rendering. Besides, it is unique from F01, F10...

Chris Bangle's design may be controversial. But they always offer avant-garde, aggressive feel.

The problem with current BMW's designs dates back 2008 when the SHARK LOOK was introduced with E89 Z4 and since then the SHARK LOOK has been insisted as the theme for all new BMW models.

The E89 looks gorgeous, but the F10 7er is ugly, then a lot of fans hate 5GT, the F10 5er is the best, however, the F20 1er is hated by many.

BMW, it is okay to maintain the SHARK theme. But please make sure it looks good. Otherwise, be flexible and forget it. After all, we love only good-looking & sexy bimmers.

I think the piece on the trunk is going to be a lot thinner, not as close to the proportions of the current E90 and the F10 5-series.

BTW, I know a lot of people have been saying all the new BMW designs look the same. While certain aspects do, as they should, in order to maintain the brand identity, if this is really how the F30 3-series tails look (so close to the 5-series) I completely agree that the designs are stupidly close. As if no effort is being made by the design staff.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that the 3-coupe will have VERY different tails like the E90 to E92 was. I think the success of having different tails and headlamps on the E90 to E92 should be persuasive enough for BMW to do it again.

I think it looks great. I'll be ready to trade in the e90 for an f30, or possibly f32.

I always thought that after the "DESIGN TEAM" brings their ideas to the table. The employer's of said "DESIGN TEAM" had to sign off on said designs!

What if they designed the best looking 3 series ever. BUT they said nah, add a little, cut, make it look like...
