Those tail lights are not appealing at all...BMW should reuse the e92/93 tails

i hope they dont make it look like that. cuz i would rather keep my e90 lci than have a rear like that. whats disappointing is that sooner or later people are going to be able to differentiate 3 series by 5 series 7 etc. We will, but not everyone is a car enthusiast. eh

It's all about saving money. They spend less on designing their cars by making them similar translates into more money. People are still going to buy the F30 3er, no doubt, so they aren't worried about the few of us who complain about it, unfortunately...

wow, they are starting to make boring cars. who phoned this one in?
it seems like you need to spend at least $60k to drive anything even remotely interesting (1M aside). then again, they never branded themselves as "the ultimate styling machine". this is like tapioca in its mechanical form. |

With that said, I don't think anyone really cares why, who made the decision. Based on that render, it looks way too similar. I will be the first to say that a brand has to protect its identity with a focused and similar enough designs to stay inline with everything. But IF the render is true to the real design, this is just silly.

I think that the bangle 7 series was the most influential design for luxury sedans with mb to Acura using cues. Bangle was brilliant IMO and I wish he was still with BMW because I have been extremely underwhelmed by the new designs. This car looks plain vanilla and I think the lci e90 looks better.

This is what I pretty much expected - with all the news and the direction BMW was going with their F-models, most of us knew it was going to be basically a smaller 5er in terms of looks which is fine because it doesn't look bad at all. As long as BMW doesn't screw up the driving dynamics (steering on 5er anyone?) I think it would be an solid car overall.

dont be too sure
The spy shots show a right sided exhaust pipe- The renders show left? Whats up with that?
BMW is going conservative on this one because they have big plans to sell more of them in China than the US for the first time. I still think the front fender on the e90 is the best part and the f30 might still be more aggressive than the renders show...

In my opinion the e90 rear looks way better than this. This is like in between a 3 and 5.... Hey let's call it a 4?

I recall BMW stylists saying within the last year going forward the overall design strategy is to make the all of the models appear to have a wider stance. Looking at the LCI E92, F10, F20 and soon to be released F30, they all share that styling characteristic. With that being said, there's no accounting for taste, the F20 is too radical the F30 appears to be too benign.
