My Son dropped his 2016 328 off at Mission Performance yesterday....and now it's back
That's my Son, his 2016 328, and Alex (Mission Performance) in the photo...my Son left his car there yesterday and I picked him up for the ride home. I guess this is what happens when you are forced home from college, MP is an hour from the house and your Dad is a huge MP fan and catches wind that Alex wanted a 328 to "play around with a bit"
Anyhoo...historically MP has only tuned 6 (first B58 tune, hired by Toyota to tune their TRD Supra etc....) and 8 cylinder BMW's I wonder what will come of this Note: car is completely stock with the exception of a muffler delete - end goal (at least from my Sons perspective) is to keep things stock with the exception of a tune, not going for max performance but rather a tune that safely maximizes the N20's capabilities while prioritizing engine reliability and longevity over performance (his car has 40k mies on it and this is at least a 100k mile car for him). Alex is also tuning the transmission to play nicely with the engine. Cool thing is on a whim we put the 328 on a dyno a couple months back when my Son swung by a dyno session I was attending - we just did it for poops and giggles but now glad we have that baseline for a comparison at some point in the future. My prediction regarding the outcome is a safe reliable engine/tranny flash combo that doesn't win any dyno bragging rights (because that's not what it is intended to do) but rather delivers solid reliable performance at a reasonable price point Last edited by chenry; 05-22-2020 at 12:52 AM.. Should look at doing some basic upgrades that'll just help prolong the life of the vehicle, upgraded fmic, charge pipe, hell even a downpipe wouldn't be bad. But car looks good! Best of luck to you and your son!

Drove it home today - I took the ride with him. What a wonderful tune - pulls hard in a very smooth linear fashion. Certainly an OEM+ type of feel with no noticeable peaks or valleys. The tranny tune is a very nice touch and compliments the engine tune really well
While this is presently a one-off I was surprised to learn that the tune is now built into the same MFlasher (Missions tuning platform for PC) that I use for my 340 albeit specific to my Sons 328 VIN so that's cool. We'll get the car to the dyno probably in a month or so when I put my new car on the rollers (it'll either be a 340x or an M340) and he can tag a long Not sure if MP is going to put this out as a product offering eventually - I know this space is a little crowded but I think there would certainly be an audience especially if it comes to market as an engine/tranny combo at a competitive price point. I think there is an IC in the cars near future (not specifically mentioned as needed - but why not) - and then I think it's just going to be set it and forget it and wait for AutoX to start up again (we love our cars but beat the hell out of them on the track and canyons - and then wash them and talk nicely to them - which is what pushed me towards MP in the first place years ago - because Alex's cars just deliver and ask for more without hesitation - probably why Toyota Corp Global paid him to tune their new Supra TRD) Build thread at some point if anyone is interested and can help someone but that'll be posted under my Son itsch3nry Last edited by chenry; 05-22-2020 at 12:00 AM.. yes me too - I know this tune/tranny combo is not going to win any all-out dyno wars but that wasn't the point - I think for people looking for an oem+ experience that value reliability, longevity, linear power delivery and drive-ability over all out HP wars - this would be a very very nice offering to consider. Especially with the way the tranny tune complements the engine tune

Thank you!
I agree I think it's really well executed - wonder where my Son learned that (Dad pats himself on the back) That said the wheels are from forum sponsor OEM Concepts and in case anyone is wondering the tire sizes are 225/40/19 & 255/35/19 and the suspension is stock I will now share way too many pictures for reference |
