I would either get the ER or just grab the VRSF downpipe

IIRC, VRSF doesn't make a downpipe for the N26 motor. That leaves me only ER to work with, or perhaps this Circuit Werks downpipe. I'm wondering what the difference is that sets the $200 difference in a hollow stainless steel pipe. May be fitment, but other than that, I'd be willing to try it out. Just wanted to see if anyone else has tried it.

You can give it a try, Ebay will return it for you if there was any problem with fitment.

Keep in mind, you are responsible for shipping it back + labor ( in case you are paying someone for the install) which are more expensive than $200

There is also no guarantee that the Ebay downpipe is made of 100% stainless steel. I have seen some cheap knock off downpipes fail on older 335

I have had this installed for almost half a year with no problems (N26). Installation was not a problem, had some friends help, took about 1.5 hours
The build quality is very good. Welds were clean plus I love the sound it makes!
Looks exactly like the ER ones

Owner is a great guy, PM me and I might be able to get you a discount

I have some pictures that I took of the product before the install.
Won't have access to them until i get home though

Circuit Werks is also owned by Pride exhausts and makes NSX exhausts.
They have great reviews on their E90 335i exhausts, it was a great bang for your buck from what I read.
Owner also has a long relationship with Seibon Carbon here in Socal (They're based in TX)

You can get an idea of how it sounds, if your local to LA. Just pm me

I just went with the ER downpipe since there was one for sale recently. Did some research on downpipes and it seems like the flex ball is the most vital part of the pipe, and good welds of course.

Lots of things can go wrong with cheaper DP most common is bad fitment ( drone, fuel smell)

I recommend you save your money to get one from a proven brand

When it comes to N26 catted downpipe, it is my understanding that the popular choices including Wagner and Remus do not fit. That leaves only ER offering a 100% direct replacement. What is the likelihood that a catted downpipe will cause a CEL in the long run? And does an oxygen sensor spacer guarantee to mitigate the risk? I appreciate any guidance here.

Even with a catted downpipe, there is no guarantee the CEL won't come on. The chances varies between brand.

An oxygen sensor spacer will in fact help reduce the risk, but with little success.

What is the underlying reason why it will eventually throw CEL? Is it because the aftermarket cat filtration result does not meet BMW rigid requirements, and the computer eventually figures it out over time?

When CEL does come on, what is a good solution to help pass emission test?

I'm no expert so your guess is as good as mine, though I do believe your guess is pretty accurate as far as I know. The BMW software is so smart it can even detect a o2 sensor spacer causing it to get readings slower than usual.

JB4 can erase and clear the CEL.

one of the reasons is cats failing. if you get a code the only way to pass emission is by installing stock DP

did the install require different clamps or did you use the one on the car already

Bought a circuitwerks downpipe for my N20, fitment was horrible and had to actually grind the downpipe down so it would seat in the turbo correctly.. and expand my exhaust pipe because the diameter was too wide. I knew I was taking a risk when I bought it but the install was terrible. Hopefully N26 is a different story
