Best plug & play bulb: Halogen to LED

I currently have the factory halogen headlights with the halogen bulbs. I am looking for a led low beam bulb that doesnt require modification or coding. What is the best option?

There's no such thing. All LEDs require coding. Where BMW and LEDs are concerned plug and play only exists in advertising fantasy.

I have these: https://ddmtuning.com/SaberLED-ProX-...bs-12500LMPR-W

If your car is an LCI then you will need the mounting clips but, since the bulbs operate at 55w just like stock halogens, they do not require any coding.

Did you read that those lights are not legal in the US for anything but fog lights?

Not really concerned about that.

They don't operate at 55w, no LED does, that's advertising BS, and that has nothing to do with the need for coding anyway. You have to code out the cold and warm checks, whether you have canbus harnesses and/or resistors or not. The cold and warm checks will cause the LEDs to periodically blink when they're not on. You don't see it with halogens, because they don't react fast enough, but with LEDs you do.

I've read that and checked but there is no blinking for whatever reason.

I take it that you did not purchase the H7 LED decoder?

A naive question from me - would they pass inspection? Maybe some states don't care about headlights?

I haven't yet been required to take the car in for our CA smog check inspection since I bought the car about 2 years ago. So I don't know for certain. But it seems that our CA smog inspection is only concerned about emissions, readiness, etc.

Inspections are by state. The headlights are federal. It was naive on my part because it was apparent that a lot of folks on here don’t care about what’s legal.

When I lived in MA, they checked headlights. Though I think they checked the focus of the bulb and not the type of bulb. Or so I remember?!?

Am I able to use a siccor jack on the front jack points one at a time to get a better access point into my wheel well? OR will this simply rip the side of my car off?
