Could E-sys FDL coding affect aftermarket keys?

This is my first time using E-sys and I will be doing some coding, the main things i wanna change are the sound settings in the Hu_entry/Hu_nbt. However, since I’ll be already connected I may as well make a few changes in the FEM and REM.

My main concern is that my FEM is unlocked. I took my car to a key specialist and he took out the FEM, clamped on to the EEPROM chip on it and coded the chip and the FEM and then added a new key fob.

Does anyone know if doing some FDL coding to the FEM (turning off auto start/stop for example) will somehow cause the new key to stop working?

Additionally, is saving the FA, SVT and CAF files enough for me to restore my FEM in case I do the coding and invalidate the key?

Thank you!

Chances are what he did was to read the coding embedded in the FEM and applied it to the fob. Did he do anything to your existing fobs? If not then all he did was to duplicate them. If in doubt ask him.

Nope should not affect your new key, since you read the ECU with all the data from that moment.

So no, everything you do at this point is safe.

Unless you code your ECU back to stock.

I don't think he duplicated the key. The process was as i understood it: you backup the FEM and the data on the EEPROM chip and then they are both coded/programmed. When that is done, the FEM is unlocked and you can even add keys later on easily without having to take out the FEM out of the car.

I wasn't there the whole time but I'm pretty sure he did exactly what was done in this video

Yes this makes a lot of sense.
In case I somehow mess up, I guess I would have to restore to the backup I made and not use the "code" button.
