Winter Wheels / Tires

Hello,

I have a 2019 440i xDrive coupe with M Sport Brakes and 19" wheels. It's a Canadian model if that matters.

I want to go non-staggered Michelin X-ICE Xi3s. When I put my car into tire rack's car configuration it doesn't give me the option for M Sport Brakes. Only Track Handling Package, so I don't know if it applies to my car.

The winter tires it suggested was 225/45R18 with 18x8 wheels and between ET 29 - 32. Which is the best offset to choose?

Thank you.

The 32s will sit 2mm out compared to a stock fitment. If you go with 29 they will be out another 3mm. Which, in the winter isnt necessarily a bad thing to prevent slinging crap all up the side of the car. I personally would stick with 32mm offset though.

You'll have to be careful with certain 18s as they have been reported to not clear msport brakes. Might be a good idea to call Tire Rack and speak to one of their reps.

I'm going to go for "18 BBS SR from a shop near my home. They say it fits, so we'll see. Thanks for the response.

I wrote it incorrect. the 32 will sit further in than the 29. I would still recommend a 32 offset for winter over the 29

Is there are a particular reason why you'd prefer 32 over 29? Wouldn't the wheels being further out during winter be better?

For reference, we recommend the following fitment for winter use as a direct fit:

Front & Rear: 18x8.5" ET35 with 225/45-18 winter tires

In response to your original question, the 18x8 with an offset between ET29 and ET32 will work wonderfully as well! You will be hard pressed to notice the 3mm difference in offsets in that range.

Thanks for the answer, Max!

I wish I had gone with Apex wheels, but the shop I ended up ordering my tires/wheels from didn't have them in stock. I heard such good things about them.

Thanks again.
