Well it is clearly not to scale, eg the E46 wheelbase is 196px in the image, E90 is 211px.
The real increase was 1.4" which should have been 2.6px rounded up, not the 15px in the picture. The scale difference makes the E90 wheelbase increase look like 8.2", almost (missing 1.3") to the F10 size. This also makes the F30 wheelbase look gigantic at 133", longer than a 7series LWB. |

I was hearing a lot of creaks coming from the rear driver side door in my E60. I found a product called Gummi Phlagen, or something like that. After applying it to all of the door trim around the whole car, I was surprised at how much quieter everything got. Highly recommended.

It's be interesting if F01 (or even F02) is involved in the graphs!

How about comparing these to the little F20?

The F30, seems big to me, but not from a driving point of view so much as just the interior space, the rear seat being so distant that I can't really just toss something on it and be able to reach it from the front seat, and I'm six feet tall and not portly at all. If I get one -- and I don't know that I will only because I doubt my E92 will be dead before the F30's production run ends -- at least my kids are beyond the age of my needing to reach back and lay down the law. LOL. Indeed, my E92 may be the last 3er I buy -- assuming it doesn't break down -- as I really want a GT car, or a really grand coupe like a Bentley Brooklands, and the F30 is really larger than I want a daily driver to be. I'd be fine with a 1, 2 or 4 series car.

I would like to see or read somewhere how is BMW explaining that pedestrian safety is improved by increasing front and rear overhang dimensions and by making the hood higher from the ground. The best pedestrian safety would have been no cars at all. |

Engine drop-in
It looks like the size differences between the E90 and F30 appear to be largely in the rear.
Ignoring why anyone would want to do this—Could you directly bolt in an I6 engine+manual trans from an E90 into an F30? Are the mounts, spacing, shifter location compatible? |
