Seat heating - am I missing something?

3-and-a-bit years in, I suppose I'd better ask you lot...have searched but not found much info on this.
Every time I want to put the heated seats on lowest setting (1 green light), it always starts on the highest (3 green lights). Seems counter intuitive to me to have to turn heated seats on, then have to keep pressing 2-3 times just to select minimum.

...am I missing something?

Cheers.

Counter intuitive, but that's the way it is. I wonder if it can be coded?

My TT does the opposite and I prefer the BMW approach.

I would have thought if you want heated seats on then full blast would be what you want, then a lower setting once it's warmed up after a few minutes. That's how I use it, so it works for me.

This sounds like the women and thermostat thread, does the seat warm up quicker on the top setting rather than the lowest?
All I know is the top setting is hot enough to boil your plums!

Seems common sense to me. One press for full blast and then another press to ease off as your arse warms up nicely..

Logical operation to me as well. Most users will want full heat with one touch, and as you say, back off as heat builds up.

Agree with the above, Mercedes do the same as well.

Infact Mercedes heated seats have a timed countdown from full to medium to low and then off!

On the X3 you can set the heated seats to come on automatically at any of the three levels when it’s below a selected temperature outside!

After a fashion: use Bimmercode to adjust the seat temps on each setting, reduce 3 bars down to lowest and 1 bar to hottest.
Push button, 3 bars is cool, 2 bars medium, 1 bar hot. Simples

That's a strange and upside-down setup. Like having a volume control with 1 for full volume and 10 for a whisper.

Bimmercode will only allow me to reduce the top setting down 5 degrees so it's nowhere near the range of the lowest setting so you can reverse them.

I think my wife would notice if I had to press the heated seat button three times to get her seat to secretly warm up to full blast

Interesting comment. My central heating modulates the heat input according to the difference between the actual temp. and the thermostat setting, also takes external ambient into account.

Cheers.
