I had the same thing a couple of weeks ago on the left side dripping when I opened the hatch. Luckily I remembered this thread and I just lifted the spoiler and blasted the drain opening with a hose and it cleared right up, the water started streaming out down by the tail lights.

Mine is really bad too, been like it for years!

Thanks for the heads up on the drain holes, I'll try to clear my many years worth of crap out!

Thanks! I did the water blast treatment on my '18, and it worked perfectly. No more water pooling under the spoiler

What about these water drains, anyone have had this problem? Under that black protector they get full of leaves and needles and even start to decompose it seems. Needless to say it doesnt drain water that comes down from the trunk door etc. Is it possible to remove those black plastic thingys? When i try to rip them up it seems that they will just break.

Get one of these, hang it on your garage wall. It works much better than a handheld vacuum, and the hose is long enough to reach the entire car with ease.

Just get a hose with good water pressure and spray the ducts - it'll clean them out.

They are just just pop out plugs - quite tough to get out and one pinged me in the eye but its just brute force or a little prise tool underneath to pop them. I've just done mine today in an attempt to find where a leak was coming from. The third one is just a nut and I think is just the stop for the boot lid closure.

We have the same issue with our F34 and the trunk. Only on the passengers side of the car. It gets dirty pretty fast ... we need to clean it every second month to avoid blocking.

Someone got a good idea how to improve this finally ... we are parking the car at the street and do not have a pressure pump or something there to get rid of the dirt easily.

string trimmer (weed wacker) string is flexible and comes in different sizes (in the US anyway). It seems to be a good way to clear the drains.

Alternative is the cans of compressed air sold to blow dust out of your keyboard or electronics. Just go with a light squeeze of the trigger so you don't blow the hose off the connector.
