Yea, I struggle to get traction with my 335i N54 FBO with stock turbo's tuned, I don't know how people manage to get traction on anything above 500HP for a daily driver.

It is good that they're trying to confirm the limits of the engine.

Let’s also remember that obviously, temps/compound are going to have a major impact. I’m probably around 430-440 wheel and can hook pretty well on 265 PS4S when it’s in the 70’s, but right now we’re getting down into the 40’s at night. A couple nights ago I took off from a light with DSC disabled and rolled into it a bit too much and started to spin. Decided to have a little juvenile fun and just did a 10 mph rolling burnout for about eighty feet. Traffic around me was probably thrilled.

Just another reminder that tires matter. Because at those temps, AS3+ would hook (better).

I work at BMW manufacturing in SC for the X models. The B58 in the Supra looks exactly like the variants we install in the X5 and X6. It's the B58c to be exact. Seems I read somewhere online that the Supra's engine is also the B58c.

I agree tyres make a huge difference and also the quality of Tarmac, I am running new Pirelli P Zeros on my 340i MPPSK and my car is sliding all over the place up to 140 Km/h.

That isn't the stock manifold, it's custom made.

Ah right. That's apparently a change in the B58TU compared to the original one.

Yep. So unfortunately when the gates break open and everyone starts making turbo kits for the A90, none of it will translate to us. But at least Vargas, CTS Turbo, and some others have been working on high quality upgrades.

Anybody think there will be a higher power Supra in the future using the BMW S58 engine that will be used in the upcoming M3/M4 ?

I think that's the engine the Supra deserved to have from the beginning.

BMW will not give the S58 to the competition.

Are you sure?

https://www.topspeed.com/cars/car-ne...-ar186001.html

TLDR:

“We’ve certainly made no offer to supply the engine to Toyota – and no request has been made, as far as I know. But it’s an interesting idea, if unlikely for now. It would be a lot for us to give away, you might say. But I’d never say never," - Markus Flausch.

The m power motors are supplied to some low volume manufacturers in the U.K. making custom rides almost like kit cars.

Considering Toyota deliberately nerfed the engine output of the B58 to preserve balance and dynamics, i'd say it's a never, never, and never.

Plus I don't see sales going crazy over a new engine option. They are already trying to scrounge up some bottom feeders by offering it with a B48 version potentially. I see it going like the FR-S/BR-Z. Lot's of hype for the first 2 years, then they struggle to keep it relevant.

1000 HP achieved running insane 43 PSI of boost and on E85 of course.

I wonder how much mileage will it run before needing rebuild.

They said in the video that they already have an adapter to run any transmission they want. That shouldn't be a problem.

It's reverted back to port injection.
