Bye bye 440i Gran Coupe

By the end of the month I should be in my new X3 M40d, so my 440i will be gone.

Looking forward to one last road trip this weekend. Taking it to the BMW PGA Championship on Sunday, where it gets me a bit of free VIP treatment, preceded by a night at the McDonald Berystede near Ascot and a night out at Ascot Grill.

If anyone is interested in purchasing my 440i you have about 4 days to contact me, or I'm going to VT it. The trade in doesn't quite cover my outstanding finance, but if I sell it for just over trade, to clear my debt, it makes a bargain car for someone!

I'll post an ad in the classifieds, but it won't be there long......

I'm still not sure if this is a wind up, after all the shit you gave me about my X3!

No, it's true.

I only gave you a shit because you said it was super fast, handled like a sports car and wasn't a yummy mummy car.

I drove one, it doesn't go through proper country road turns as well as my 440i, but, yes, it's pretty good.

I'm accepting that smaller SUV's look great on the school run. I'm expecting men to check me out when driving past before turning away when they spot the beard.

I still don't like the big deep windows, but then no car is perfect, I don't like the 440i from some angles either.

But, for a 3 litre car, quick, M pimped to hide a little of the Mumsy look, then overall i quite like it. And that's good enough for me, nothing else for the same money that I truly love.

If money was no object, I'd have S Class Amg 63 thingy, or an S8, or a 760il, or something suitably luxurious and fast. Or maybe a full fat RR. But with my budget, that's never going to be an option, so for the next couple of years, this will suit me just fine.

Well I didn't actually say that, I said it handled better than a 335d, which it does.

And also that it's really handy being able to drive over stuff!

That is very selective memory, you may have ended up at that point, just, but it isn't what you said for most of the conversation. However, I can't be bothered to start this all over again.

Well, it was what I said/meant.

Anyway, great car choice!

Shit I just thought, does this mean you're going to be in the X3 forum now?

Garage List
How easy is it to kerb the wheels on an X3? That's usually the Mumsy giveaway

Haven’t you got the mumsy 20s though rather than the hard core 21s?

Yes I’ve got the 20’s, because they came with non run flats.

Yes the 21’s only come with rft’s, 20’s come with non rft when specced with MS+ pack.

The 21” tyres are also at least £100 more per corner when they need replacing!

Odd forum this.

I kinda thought it was full of enthusiasts but its simply people jumping from one deal to the next poorest deal and the sort of motors you simply don't park up and look back at with any degree of affection.

I understand the 440i I really do but feck me just lob £500/600 at the next 'thing' and you end up like this thread...buying a munter of a motor.

There are two things in life guaranteed, everyone has an opinion and some think of theirs as fact...

You are entitled to yours, but it is just that, an opinion. Others may / will disagree.

As far as I know Alex has had a 440i GC, an A6 BiTurbo Quattro, an XF.... all decent cars, not necessarily enthusiasts cars but good motors. The X3 in my humble opinion fits nicely into that group.

Note the use of the word opinion. Some may think a 340i a bit of a common munter compared to some options...

Could be worse they could’ve jumped ship to an Audi or even a Merc!

Christ on a stick it’s bleak round these parts.

I never said I was an enthusiast. Quote me on that ?

I simply had a misplaced opinion that there may have been a few on here.

Even you with your sense of the ridiculous can see its simply a clearing house of people passing through gobbing off about the next chelsea tractor they can buy...probably include you in that.
