Well, the call back i got was surprising, 3 of the 6 cylinders had misfire. (26k miles)

Not sure if they are related but the conclusion was faulty coils.

But the car sounded and drove fine before i brought it in without any CEL, We will see.
WOW 2 years and still no fix! This is shocking and disappointing as I just picked up a 2013 335i m sport CPO and experienced my 1st limp mode. I am still on the old software that ASS works in very mode and the last user setting is original. It always defaults to ASS on. I need the updates ASAP.

New software. It's been over 14 months, lots of spirited and commute driving. The software de-activates ASS in Sport mode for some reason. That's fine by me.

Ok very good to hear. I just made an appointment with my dealership and told them I wanted all the latest parts and software.

It interesting that my 2012 f30 335i had the updates since 2013 and it even had the ASS turn off in sport and sport plus and not the newer cars out of the gate. I guess if you don't complain they won't just randomly update cars..

I just noticed you have Sport, not M-Sport. AFAIK only the M-Sports were affected with the true Limp Mode.

No I use to have a sport. I just picked up a 2013 M sport. And my 1st limp mode occurred yesterday. I appreciate all your help and replies.

Well just FYI.

After the coils were replaced. Had 1 more limp mode. I don't even bother with it anymore.
I was making a right turn and needed acceleration after the turn and of course just when i needed the power, I felt the instant "pull back" and yah another one.

I have finally had it and ordered a new car. No more 3ers for me for a while.

To Oonowindoo- I just got a Drivetrain Malfunction along with the CEL late last night. Was able to drive it home, but the brakes locked up towards the end, which was weird. The fan wasn't too bad, but def heard whistling and noises in the engine. I'm having the car towed to Stevens Creek BMW this morning.

Seems like my instance is most similar to yours. I have a MY14 MSport 335i manual.

Have you tried lemon law-ing your car?

You didn't see a dealership about it?

I didn't event put it in sport mode. Luckily it happened to me when the 5 had plenty of traffic.

Would have really sucked to do that at highway speeds.

I don't think this fixes the issue. Did you get ASS to be persistent over poweroff?

I had that and still experienced the issue that is being reported on this thread.

Same here. It was still registered in the Ecu memory. One day at the dealer, new software, ass programmed to last user mode, and new fan sensor, new shroud, new switch = no issues so far....we shall see

During the drive home on the day I took delivery of my car, my car went into Limp Mode due to the car running too hot. I turned right around and went back to the dealer. They replaced the fan and reprogrammed the car and I have had no Limp Modes or any other problems in the 2 years and 12,000 miles since.

Glad to hear that the did is pretty reliable.

Sucks that you had to bring it back right away though.
