Does anyone know if the OEM BMW camera can be used with the BimmerTech OEM Integration kit?

Apparently it's not possible. I would prefer to use the OEM hardware for my retrofit but the wiring harness is proving hard to find.

This listing says the HSM cable is 3 meters, that means it won't allow me to install the module in the correct location right?

[Q] Part No. of Z2*6B Socket Casing

Does anybody know the part number of the socket casing for the power supply to the camera module?

The official part name is Z2*6B VI 6+6-pin socket casing, colour is purple.

I completed retrofit backup camera to my F30 with NBT. Everything works well, except that everytime when I change to use Reverse gear, the screen will not go the rearview video mode automatically. I need to press iDrive button once (press the R icon on the screen interface) in order to go to rearview video mode. Does anyone knows how to fix it?

Every time I think about trying to piece together all the parts and install everything I re-read thread and it makes me think it would just be worth less headaches to pony up the extra money and buy from Bimmer-Tech. Aside from OP how many of you have installed their OEM kit?

It really isn't that difficult to locate the parts since BMW makes an OEM kit now(#66212361833), would just need to purchase that and the TRSVC module. Still more expensive than sourcing the parts separately from eBay, but cheaper than $1200 USD, which is crazy for just a reverse camera IMO.

Only thing to remember is that in order to have the OEM reverse camera, you need to have at least the rear Park Distance Control.

Whoa didn't even see this. Is the HSM cable the correct length(the long one) so you can install the computer in the factory location?

Yep, the kit was designed for all F3X models, which will allow for the module to be under the driver's side dash in the factory location.

Thanks. What's odd is I just tried looking it up for my MY12 and it doesn't list that kit.

Part number is 61139227710 for the purple variant.
The problem is to find a dealer who sells this socket casing.
OK, i didn't ask my local dealer, but i was searching online for this part number and found nothing.
So i bought on ebay a used complete power distribution box with some socket housing.

For those of you that have done the install/retrofit yourself, would you say it's worth saving $300 in labor to have a BMW shop (third party) do it? I was thinking of just getting the retrofit kit from ECS/Turner/etc, and paying to have the kit installed and coding it myself.

Yes, you are right. It is worth noting to have reverse camera only. However, It is woth to DIY because you can retrofit surround view option simultaneously.

Thx. atzebmw.
I have ordered the used rear power distribution box with the socket from e-bay. Fortunately, it has a lot of spare fuse!

Adding the surround view cameras should just be installing cameras and connecting to control module though correct? That's assuming I get a control module with that capability. That brings me to another question, can I use that control module without the surround cameras hooked up or will that just cause errors?

Yes it's possible.
You can install the module with the full capability and use only the connection for the reverse camera without any errors.
You can install the surround view cameras later.

Does the PDC working properly if you change to reverse gear?
Codings are right?
Did you VO code 3AG or FDL code the values?

im having issues with my car cameras. Maybe some of you can help me out, since you guys did all the retrofiting and stuff. My car all of a sudden wont let me use any of the cameras(I have the iSight package that includes bumper, mirror, and rear cameras). When I press the camera button which suppose to turn on the bumper cameras it doesn't do anything and when I put my car in reverse it just shows the PDC, with the check on Park assist, when I press on the rear view cam it wont let me check it. Car doesn't show any failure. Anyone one what could be happening?

Did you solve the problem?
I think about this problem since my last post and as i remember sometimes the rear view camera has to calibrate with Rheingold.
I think there is a service plan for this calibration.

I installed the Bimmertech OEM Integration kit in my car today and the screen just shows black. I verified all connections are tight and the coded it. I am waiting to hear back from them on how to fix it. Has anyone else had this problem?

Here is what I see:

Also has anyone else installed this kit and can offer pointers on how to situate cabling behind head unit??
