UK driving standards

Just got back from a few days out in sunny Corfu and gave to say I'm amazed by the difference in driving standards here and in Corfu.

Not sure if it's down to a mix of different nationalities , driving on the wrong side of the road or Greek genetics but was gobsmacked by the lack of tolerance and basic courtesy and common sense shown by all.

Made me almost glad to be back in the UK. On an aside however on the drive back from Manchester in rental Volvo did end up phoning the police about a nodding off van driver wandering from lane to lane

Not surprised tbh.

I have found going east from UK, the driving gets worse (apart from Germany and Holland.

However, Italy, Greece, Balkans, Eastern Europe, Turkey, Middle East, Pakistan, India, Afghanistan, China, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines.

They all just progressively worse.

What makes it worse is crap driving AND people shooting at you lol.

Having recently returned from the West Bank I can categorically say that I hate driving in this country. Excessive politeness, fear of offending someone for making a teeny tiny mistake, lack of filtering skills, intolerance and road rage. Genuinely, I loathe driving in this country!

Strange thing is all the Greeks I met from the locals shop keepers those in the tourist trade etc struck me as genuinely warm people.

BUT

Let them loose in a car and they turn into awkward slightly psychotic nutters

After a couple of weeks of driving on the continent on holiday the annoying British habit of middle lane hogging was doubly annoying this week back at work. I saw it so many times.... following some cars along a slip road on to the Motorway and despite it being clear for quite a distance people just immediately move straight to the middle lane and sit there!

It's not the worst, I can see drivers sitting on the outside lane on an empty motorway, flashed them, passed them and I saw in my mirror they were back on outside lane, idiots
